Song writers?

I would post some of my songs up, but first I want to see if anyone else here writes songs, or more importantly, if anyone here is even *mature* enough to talk about song writing...

most of the time whenever anything creative is posted up here and it doesn't involve techno, sci-fi, lord of the rings, being emo, bemani, or japan, everyone hates it.

most of my stuff is actually about human behavior; i.e. mental processes, emotions, etc.

it's not emo though, or sappy, or whatever. It's more like, how to make a scientific description into something that sounds more creative and flows better, than just a detailed description of the processes.

That's some of my stuff, the rest is either still about human behavior but much more abstract (all of my stuff is abstract somewhat, but all of it has a point) than my normal stuff, and a few are actually about real life experiences i've had.

Only about three of my 50+ songs are "emo" in any way, and those are the three I won't post so I won't bore everyone to death

So does anyone else write songs, like as an actual hobby, or even as a profession? (lyrics, of course, duh)

I would do a lot more vocal tracks if I had a dedicated singer.

well when I meant "song writers/lyrics" topic, i meant, just the lyrics, no audio.

that's why I was asking if anyone else wanted to do that stuff.

Of course i'll post some of my own lyrics; i'm a singer myself and i've sung some of them, but they just sound kind of stupid with just singing, almost any song does except classic rock, classical, or pop (acapella stuff i mean).

most of my songs are kind of dark also; none of them are really happy at all, or at the best, melancholy; however I *HATE* emo shit, so don't worry, none of it is dark as in "omg guys my boyfriend left me.. the world is at fault.. i hate myself.. i am a dark child" or some shit.

I write a lot of lyrics as well~ Most of the time i do it while playing
guitar or piano. I have a notepad with lyrics in it (or rather ideas
that might be good lyricals~ random notes and phrases that i like).

Don't be worried about posting it~ It's all gravy! We're not as close

going to post some of my songs up besides this in a bit (running tons of bandwidth through my computer is severely lagging it)

most of my stuff is abstract, as i said, so just want to get some people's opinions on these two for now, what kind of impression it gives you, so on.

this first one is actually one of the ones that ISN'T about human behavior; but it's not one of those sappy ones either.

if you want to imagine the vocalist in your head, think of anathema, if you know them, that's the closest I can think of, even though they're somewhat underground;

if you don't know them, think of a slightly european voice, somewhat deep (devin townsend), etc.

the song is slow; so slow that on average, a line would take around five-six seconds to finish, with drums set sporadically around the song, and guitars doing long, extended, deep, singular sounds, etc.

and here's the second one, more about human behavior than the other one;

If you've listened to 311's self-titled album, or some of thier more alternative works (their latest CD), that captures the mood/vocals/music for this song *perfectly*.

Especially think of "don't stay home", "jackolantern's weather", or "down" for the beat/rhythm/speed to this one.

Otherwise, it would work good as an upbeat alternative song, but sounding somewhat "dark" in the mood to it. (a good example to this effect would be Dani California, although the length of that song and vocals would be horrible for this song)

I will say that this one above here isn't typical of my stuff; usually I name my songs a lot more "deeper" than just "opinions" lol, and they generally have much more vague meanings.

I'll post up some more later, including one (a metal song) that I actually have drumbeats and vocals to (not recorded, but I can/will do them eventually, and did have them at one point).

When you ask yourself does the drug work, when you are depressed?
Now that the frail body begun to heat in coil,
As the missing perplexing task was in foil.
Climbing, edging a survaillance in its meter as water drench your body,
Are you fast enough?
Are you strong enough?
Can you run a million miles more before the drung runs-out?
Or give up hope that death will come to take you out?

meh...it was fast paced one...I'm not quite sure how serious you want it...>_<
