Default Songs That Inspire

Hi folks:

I may be a market of one, but I look to a lot of music for inspiration from as many places as I can find it. In my mind, you grow from what you surround yourself with, take that into yourself, and give it back with your own flair.

With that, if you folks have any songs from other artists that blow your mind, share it out:

Magnitude by Johan Gielen
YouTube - Johan Gielen - Magnitude

Haven't felt this way about trance in a long time. This is just orgasmic.

YouTube - Gabriel & Dresden "Tracking Treasure Down"

One of the top greatest productions I've ever heard of any genre of music, not to mention one of the greatest pop songs ever written. PM me if you want the original mix in high quality.

Also, I love moogs

YouTube - Trance Techno - Set You Free ( Extended Mix )

The BEST trance production I've heard, period. I don't think trance has ever sounded so good. Youtube quality does it NO justice, the amount of work this guy and his engineers did is incredible. If anyone wants the extended mix in 320kbps just let me know. Im all for sharing good music

Teardrops, by Massive Attack
YouTube - massive attack- teardrop
Better known as the theme song to House, and in my opinion, much better without the lyrics, but epic all the same.

Alone in Tokyo, by AIR
YouTube - Alone in Kyoto AIR
Sounds like Teardrops 2, but lighter.

Triumphant by Royksopp
YouTube - Royksopp - Triumphant
Such a painful piece ... everything these guys do is so painful. :/[/i]

I think musical taste says a lot about a person. I'm probably a really trippy, mellow dude? Who knows.

"Shine" by Ulrich Schnauss

YouTube - The Flashbulb - Kirlian Shores
one of the few musicians who strikes a balance between technical wizardry and raw, emotional songwriting. this song, in particular, is a favorite.

YouTube - Efterklang - 01 - Step Aside (Live)
efterklang is a 5 piece studio, 9 piece live band. not all of their music is quite as electronically influenced as this, but "step aside" is a wonderful track regardless and manages to fuse some very glitch-inspired beats with acoustic instruments.

YouTube - Efterklang - 03 - Mirador (Live)
an efterklang song more rooted in real instruments with just a bit of the electronic influence added in for good measure (the studio mix is also a good listen if you prefer your music more cleanly mixed).

I love that song. Check out THIS link for the original vocal, bass, synth, and drum tracks separated into 320kbps mp3s. They had a remix competition, but the original parts were never really taken down from this website.

Gabriel & Dresden have some great tracks. The Cicada remix of Dangerous Power has this great dark synth-rock style that I absolutely dig:
Gabriel & Dresden - Dangerous Power (Cicada Radio Edit)
(pls ignore the F-Zero GX footage, lol)

Also:
YouTube - Freeform Five 'No More Conversations' Mylo Radio Remix 2007
... really. Even though I'm sure everyone is sick of this song, when it initially came out I was completely inspired. The nail-biting bass... the eclectic drum sampling... the precise vocal delivery... the clunky hand claps... the phasered pads... just everything. All so seemingly different, yet they all come together to create an anthemic house masterpiece.

Finished Symphony // Hybrid

It's in the same vein as William Orbit's Barber's Adagio for Strings, but not completely overplayed. Also, the classical piece was specially written for the track, not being a remix, which is a very nice touch.

I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing // Aerosmith

This was played at the funeral of one of my cousins in 1997. Every time I hear it, I get tears in my eyes, even to this day.

Maris Stella by Digitonal

I really wish I had more music by Digitonal. This is one of the most spine-chillingly beautiful electronic tracks I've ever listened to.

Killing Game by Skinny Puppy

A very dark and creepy song by my favorite Industrial group, yet it's one of their most creative and expressive endeavors. I love their old music so much.

Hello, I'm Benn by The Flashbulb

Namedropping The Flashbulb again because this is sooooo beautiful. There's no technicality or glitchy beats here, just lovely composition.

Floating Free by Vibrasphere

The only Uplifting Psytrance act I've ever heard. This track completely calms my mind.

Above and Beyond - Can't Sleep
YouTube - Above & Beyond - Can't Sleep (Original Mix)
Heard this song at Lovefest '06, I could have cried.

Jean Michel Jarre - C'est La Vie
YouTube - Jean Michel Jarre - C'est La Vie (2000)
The singer is fantastic, love the eastern melodic influences, the constant progression is superb, the meshing of so many percussive parts is orgasmic. Youtube quality is awful, sorry.
