Anti_gilbert: How the fuck did you install LiteStep?

This is for anyone who can answer this, but I know that Anti_gilbert has it.

What I'm looking for is some kind of idiot fucktard-proof way of installing it (if there is a way). I'm usually pretty good at this kind of thing, I'm stuck. I've uninstalled it for now until I can get it done properly.

Can anyone help?

Generally, if you're installing a shell and start to think you don't know what the fuck you're doing... you don't, and you'll get rather strange results sometimes.

God damnit, the site is down. Off the top of my head I can't tell you. Once it goes back up I'll explain it. In the meantime you could look for a skin you want to use.

EDIT: I reread your post and the newest version of Litestep makes things extremely simple once you have it installed (ie downloads the needed modules for a them for you instead of tracking them down yourself). But like I said, I'll give you a more in depth guide after the site goes back up.

Much appreciated. I'll ollk for some skins then. LiteStep only changes the taskbar, start menu etc, but not the window borders right? So I have to find a matching visual style?

Yessir, you should get a matching visual style to go with it. Sometimes there will be suites with both a vs and ls theme.

Seems the site is working now, so hopefully bms doesn't decide to shit on me (again) and tell me the server is too busy for the next hour.

First and foremost, you'll need a build of litestep. Despite what you may see on there, we'll take the recommended route. Download both the Omar installer (97) which is the third thing on the builds page and the Updater (2) which is the first item on the build page. Run them in that order (omar, updater). After the installation it will probably ask you to restart. I believe it gives you the option to use the LS theme or not, I can't remember. It's not the most beautiful option, but it works.

Now lets install the theme you found. The process for the visual style is the same, so go ahead and do that whichever way you choose. As for the LS theme, double click the lsz file and you should get a little pop up window saying that you need to download certain modules with the needed modules under it. It looks like this:

After you get the modules needed you should be able to use the theme. Right clicking the desktop will bring up your menu. By going to the lightstep menu you'll be able to switch themes there. To install new themes just use the same process as before, double click the lsz and get the modules, etc.

Lemme know how things work for you with that.

It's working fine now, I used the SEO theme and area 421-0 VS like you had, just for the sake of testing it. I'll change to another one soon though.

It's pretty sweet, but when I maximise the window, the bar top window border covers the shell bar, can I make it not do that?

I've changed my theme for now anyway, and it doesn't cover any more. I'll try to post a screenshot later but DeviantART is being a bitch and won't let me upload.

You should make it show in the original size when you enlarge it, it's pretty small, but looks good from what I can see.
