Default Any way to reduce USB lag?

I know eliminating it completely is out of the question, given that it's USB to begin with...but there has to be some way to alleviate it. Lately, more and more, I've been noticing my USB lagging, especially when playing SM...it loves to start doing it when I'm pounding through lengthy 8th-runs and most 12th and 16th ones as well, particularly those that trill 2 steps repeatedly. Maybe it's just SM, maybe it's just me sucking at certain stepcharts...opening up the timing window a bit did seem to help slightly, though I don't want to put it anywhere below 3...any thoughts, anyone?

Fixing Converter Lag / Increasing the USB Rate

If this doesn't help your problem (if you do it correctly), then I have no idea what else you can do. It worked flawlessly on my machine.

If you're talking about running it off USB removable drive; try defraging it, I usually need to every once in a while and it speeds up the fragmented drives reading rate

No, I'm just talking about the lag time between when I push a key and when the game receives the input.

Pretty much the only thing you can do is increase the polling rate of your USB ports, and there's info on how to do that in the thread that's been linked. What also can help is that if you're using a program like Joy2Key to convert USB device input to Keyboard input is to go around using the converter program if at all possible and just configure the game/program you want to use the joystick with to look for and accept input directly from the USB device.

Also, one bit of advice regarding polling rates, DO NOT set your polling rate faster than 500 hz. It'll fry out your motherboard and USB board in a heartbeat.

That's literally impossible when it comes to DJMAX.
