I personally would go with ATi. U get HDR and anti-aliasing simultaneously and their X1950XTX card beats all of nVidia's single GPU cards. nVidia has the fastest card only cause it has Dual Gpus.... personally i think its a peice of junk and is useless because NO GAME currently would even require such a card, UNLESS you are a supernerd and play everygame at 1600X1200 with max settings. Frankly, crossfire and SLi are both useless, unless u wanna use 2 budget cards. Anyways, I'll go with ATi and always have every since the Radeon X1900 series came out

In all seriousness I wouldn't buy a card just because you can have HDR lighting and AA at the same time. And pretty soon, Nvidia will top the X1950XTX anyways, and only by a little. In the long run, it doesn't really matter which you pick, as each usually suceeds the other with a slightly more powerful card, or a large leap forward that gets topped anyways.
Also, quad SLi IS a joke, but it does cater to the people who seriously want tons of power at once. SLi and Crossfire aren't really much better, but the benefits are more tangible and actually noticable, rather frame rate gains that don't affect the human perception of a game anyways, just done for sheer numbers.

That's why the X1950XTX is currently beating all current nVidia cards; you're compairing it to a generation of video cards that are 1/2 a generation behind the current ATi setup. Also, the cost to preformance ratio for cards like that is, frankly, beyond stupid. That same card will be the same price as today's midranged cards as soon as the new nVidia chipset comes out.
Crossfire and SLi may seem like a bad idea when you want to straight up buy two cards right now, but think about it two years down the row. You have a Crossfire motherboard and a previous generation midrange crossfire card (say, x850 or so). Your inital investment of $300 (pulling a number out of the sky) does depreciate, but the older card will drop in price. For a much lower fee (probably around $100 if you shop around), your Crossfire system should have compariable ablilites to a brand new $300 video card.
ATi cards can be very finickey, and for system stability it's wiser to go with a nVidia card.
For the love of christ do some goddamn research before going off on an ATi fanboy tyrade.

I've had nothing but problems with ATI cards including their dam tv tuners.

It's cause of this BS and the YEARS of driver problems that I've seen ranging from their Rage 128 to their newest Catalyst using videocards that have caused me to have no trust in them at all. My experiences with Nvidia on the other hand have been very good, espically with Linux.

Ive only had it work once, that was when I had ubuntu on my thinkpad (this was before the lawsuit crap) and it almost matched speed with my windows drivers.
That's pathetic. the Nvidia drivers for linux blow the windows drivers away. I get 4x the speed in Doom 3 on the same hardware.

| Can you say, Widescreen monitor? Not everyone is running old hardware. PLENTY of people want games with high framerates with that resolution. Its not even that unrealistic. Look at Oblivion. You'd have to spend probably around 800-1000 dollars to run that game maxed out with that resolution at a framerate above 30. Quote: |

| I'm running in SLI two e-GeForce 7950GT KO 512mb. They aren't top of the line, high end, but more Highish Midrange. I can strain those cards on modern games. | |

Ati does have it's perks and does come out with awesome hardware too but they still don't seem quite as par as Nvidia in quality. I dunno, but that's simply my opinion. But it's kind of funny isn't it? How people tend to side with either only Ati or only Nvidia but not both equally? It's the same with just about everything.. I guess it's Human Nature to pick sides?

In my opinion every one have excellent products
Ah...
another thing is that the price of the two cards was really semejant.
