Generally, ready-made computers for me don't work too well, nor for most people who are even remotely serious about computers. Base hard drive capacity, video card, wireless options, etc. just aren't enough or are (in some cases) too much on pre-configured models. I like online ordering because you can change a few little things and get the config/price you want.

However, I bought my MacBook base model simply because it was what I was expecting and I didn't want anything extra. For desktops, I'd always avoid the ready-made models in favor of HDD upgrades or whatnot.

Edit: Also, why water cooling? Honest to god, I just don't understand that one.

They all suck. Build your own. Otherwise Alienware has decent ones. but they practically use parts you can buy and build urself with.

Im not a big fan of cooling (no pun intended)

The company I work for tests chips. All processors and chips are made to run properly at 120º C with no long term damage to the chip. To leave a little room for error, the manufacturer will say the max temperature the chip can handle is about 95º C.

I've always recommended hp computers for the average consumer. There is minimal setup and reinstalling Windows is easier than anything I've yet seen.

no matter how much you can pay Alienware/DELL XPS/Falcon Northwest/Voodoo/whatever other company i havent mentioned, its always better DIY

though building a computer isnt all together really hard, i feel some satisfaction in you know, tricking out my computer and building a machine that i can apprectiate the most, whereas buying from a compay gives you a computer that you get little control over

I think the better question is, which ready made computer sucks the least?

If you know nothing of computers Id say dell.
If you know something of computers Id say HP.

I say hp for any level user. Dell's customer service and implementation is a joke.

Well if we're talking about family-grade prebuilt computers, HP seems like they're not too shitty. My dad has an e-machine and to be honest, it isn't a complete piece of shit considering it was only $300.
