bitmap to JPEG?

I am trying to find a program that can convert a bitmap image to a JPEG, so I can use it on websites. Anyone know a progrm I can use, because I have been searching and found nothing today, and I worked on one image for a good half an hour, even know its a little old nothing Paint image.

So anyonw know how to convert a BITMAP to JPEG, or know a program that can?

You can use paint, just open the .bmp in paint, then go to Save As and change the filename to JPEG. Thats what I always do.

Seconded. If you save as JPEG in paint it'll be all gritty. Either do what he said, or just download GIMP.

ah, I dont really care that much, paint already looks gritty, so what are you gonna do right?

IrfanView, Paint.NET, GIMP...

Also, simple two-color art like that is better saved in GIF.

Generally, all text comes out better in .GIF, doesn't it?

Yes, it does. If you want good quality JPEGs you'll be better off taking out a mortgage and buying Adobe Photoshop. If you select 'Save for Web', it will allow you to see how big the file will be in the bottom corner.

Yeah, PS does it good because you have a quality slider. But then again it's pretty expensive.

But like Excel already said .gif is probably a better bet anyways. It's just text.

I only really use JPEG for photographs, but if you have a simple 2 colour graphic/image, then you might as well use GIF. I never really understand the way that these programs compress the files. If I try to save an image such as the one you're trying to save, it will add at least another 16 shades of the red around the text, which would surely make the file bigger. But anyway, what do I know lol.

What format are you trying to save in? That would mean either it's anti-aliasing or artifacts.

Anti aliasing is only used for resizing pictures from large to small. I don't think it has anything to do with the file format.

you could use ACDSee as well as it has a mass convert option as well as resizing and a whole list of other options.

hmm... paint is simple but if the picture is from the web , u can try resaving it into jpeg instead
