Default Computer problem / please help

I got the new ATI Radeon HD3870 for xmas and two 1 gig sticks of ram also. I installed the new card and the Ram and it worked fine. When I went into bios, it turns out I didn't have the new good ram in the primary slots so I switched it (I have 3 gigs of ram with 2 one gig sticks and 2 512 mb sticks). When I booted up the computer, it was making a warning sound and sounded like it came from my power supply and wouldn't boot up. I switched the ram back to where it was and it worked fine.

I also looked at the requirements and the card said it needs 550 watts but my power supply says 375 MAX. Should I get a new power supply or should I be fine or is there something else to this?

I played Crysis on High and TF2 with everything up and nothing happened before this happened.

It currently works now.

The screen wills spin and battle music will start to play. You and drunk friends will be forced to stand in a line rocking back and forth holding over sized swords. A group of retarded looking monsters will appear and you will take turns hitting each other. When it is all over you will get 648 Gil and a fire ring. Why the 12 foot tall monster with no hands had a fire ring that fits everyone from you to your grandma will still be mystery to man.

You'll neeed a new power supply, after a while, that one's going to stop working and burn out in a odd fashion if you keep using it over it's rated limit.

"hey my car says it needs unleaded gasoline but i've been using kerosene, that's ok right? i mean the car isn't working but kerosene should be ok shouldn't it"

It needs 550w for Crossfire if you read properly. Your PSU is slightly underpowered I believe.

Get a decent 450w+ to be safe.

With a system like that I would get a very large power supply. Most are intelligent enough to only draw for demand, so if you get a 800 watt power supply itll only draw whats needed to run.

dan don't bother with eureka; he's pretty frequently provided inaccurate and incomplete advice on every computer/tech thread he's posted in. at some point his advice will probably break someone's computer
