1. Vista is great and if you don't think so, you're stupid.
2. I'm right about number 1 because I study computers like reenee studies drawings of naked girls. And we all know what that means.
3. I have no permanent problems with Vista, In fact, I have a solution for every single one Ive run into. And all of them are so frigging minor that they really aren't worth mentioning, but alas some people cant quite handle fixing some of these problems, so were going to make this thread and use it to get people who have problems with Vista less problems with vista.
Common Problems:
Networking (Wired): Update your drivers from the website that the card comes from, and then from Windows Update.
Networking (Wireless): See Wired. Might require flash drive though. Why are these problems mentioned?
Well, Ive found that almost every single wireless driver that isn't from XP on the Vista disc has problems holding onto a wireless network. Well why would that happen?
That happens because Vista actually has a more standard network stack than XP and below did. Then why doesn't it work?
Because we've spent the last 15 years designing equipment that works around XP and Earlier flaws. As such, the components in question get confused when we hook something not retarded, like something running Linux or Vista, up to them. Oh.
Yeah that's what I thought. I have no free System ram.
Jesus Christ buy some more. I got 1gb of ram for 21 dollars, and its laptop ram. This isn't at all hard. You can run Windows Vista on 512 megs of ram, that doesn't mean you should. Much the same way, you can run Windows XP on 64 megs, Windows 95-2000 on 16 megs, and Windows 3.1 on 2 megs. Again, doesn't mean that you should. Vista is a 1 GB to run basic things (Not games), and 2gb to run Games. Most people consider XP to have the same barriers. My system doesn't run Aero, can I force it?
Not to my knowledge, but you'd be stupid to. Aero only adds so many little features, and while they are features I like, Windows Vista Basic does most everything Aero does (including color changing) so either upgrade your video card or deal with not having Aero. My computer is far too old to run a video card that is Aero capab...
Stop right there. If your computer cant run an Aero capable video card, then your computer probably cant run Windows Vista either. In addition, your system probably doesn't run XP very well either. Go figure. I have an Aero capable video card, but Aero isn't an option. How do I make it one?
Actually check that you have an Aero capable video card, if that is the case than you are running Windows Vista Home Basic, and you don't have Aero support. Use Windows Anytime Upgrade to purchase an upgrade to at least Windows Vista Home Premium. I'm running Aero but when I run certain programs, Aero goes away. Why is that?
Aero uses your 3d chip, and some programs are hogs and like to use the entire chip for themselves. Vista automatically disables Aero when these programs are run. Old offenders to this like "Media Player Classic" have updated versions that no longer do that (so Reenee can watch his naked anime girls and have pretty window frames at the same time) so try updating your program first. I cant get <Game here> to run!
Try the compatibility mode, its worked for every DirectX app Ive tried. I cant get <DOS Game here> to run!
That's right. No, I don't think you heard me. I said I Cant Get <DOS game here> to run.
Yes, Windows Vista marks the end of support for 16bit code. If you really need a solution to this, and enough people ask politely, Ill setup a proper DOS 6.22 + Windows 3.1 virtual machine that will run under the free version of your favorite Visualizer here. Wouldn't that be slow?
Not at all. Windows 2000 runs full speed on a P4 under Windows XP. Newer processors have special instructions that VirtualPC and VMWare can use to speed up Visualization even more. Team Fortress 2 Hiccups for me. Why does it do that?
You don't have enough free ram. 2gb of ram + not running many things should give you enough free ram. I even get a few hiccups on my laptop like this, but I blame my antivirus tool more than I blame vista, because it does the exact same shit on my XP box and uses the same antivirus program. And even then, its only during the initial load, and ends long before I actually get to step outside the spawning room. That's not fucking good enough for me!
You're an idiot. I said it stopped before I left the spawn room. Not the Resupply Room, the Spawn room. That means that I am never in any danger when this happens. Quit your whining.
Now that were done with that, we can post in this thread any further problems we have, and I will try and help you through them. I'm just sick of Vista problems threads popping up.

It said to get the Vista driver from the website, but the Vista driver is packed with an XP 64-bit driver, and it keeps trying to install the XP 64-bit driver.

It won't allow us to pick "Dance Mode" and thats the thing that we need to choose for the adapter to be able to play ITG. Maybe it does not support Vista but I'm just curious if you have any ideas. Yes I've tried installing the driver from the website. | |

Yes I've tried installing the driver from the website. | Test it in the Game Controllers control panel. If that works there, then reconfigure it inside ITGPC. If it doesn't work, try another USB port.
