Hmm......

Seems like a good program

Guess I should try it out.

Do not use it to clear memory right before playing stepmania or using psx emulators (maybe not just psx but that's what i have right now), some side-effects include slowdowns and lags (you press something then it take a while for the program to register that action) similar to those in slow pcs even if task manager reports that not a lot of memory is being used.

It's exceptionally stable as long as you stick to the defaults (you can tweak the settings but what bizarre thing may happen is not my fault) and consumes minimal ram.

I have various "sysinternals" tools and Norton sytemworks 2003 for solving problems.

My recommended add-ons for firefox is Fetch text URL (type a websitye and with a right-click opens up that website), Ad-Block plus and cooliris previews.

I also use AVG link-scanner (installed with AVG 8.0, works on 3), McAfee Site advisor and realplayer download manager (not compatible with FF3).

I believe Download Statusbar is a very essential FF addon, it gets rid of that annoying Download window and does it Google Chrome style, although it was first.

Go to FireFox addons and search Cooliris.

The sexiest way to browse pics

I'm having problems with AVG. No matter how many times I update and restart, it still says the Virus and Spyware databases are outdated. Then the Auto update keeps "updating" and telling me to restart, and it won't go away. Help?

Try updating manually. Make a folder on your desktop and download all of the update files to it. Open AVG and open Tools > Update from directory.

Strange.

It doesn't seem to have any problem with mine.

Heck rather, it's the opposite that's happening (in that it auto-updates every single day ).

Which is not a bad thing at all (as the Antivirus gets updated very frequently)

---------------

Anyways,
Sir Excel already stated that you can download it manually.

Or if not, then you could just reinstall the program again.

P.S.
I assume you're using AVG 7.5 Free Edition, correct?

Don't worry, I asked on the AVG forum and they fixed it.

Doesn't Firefox 3 automatically do this? For example if I type in "Windows Update" it will take me to windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Well it does on mine.

I can see the area below the address/URL bar which has these "shortcuts" pointing to stuff like:

Free Hotmail, Windows Marketplace, Windows Media, Windows, etc.

I think it already comes with it (Firefox 3.0.3)

Dunno

When I checked my IE 6.0 browser, I couldn't see any of it.

So I myself am not sure as to how or why it was there.......just that it was in my Firefox 3.0.3

Guess I'll probably never know then.

Also

Google Chrome needs a lot of fixing.

True speeds have been faster..................except for youtube (probably because of a fault between Chrome and the Adobe Flash Plugin perhaps).

Anyways, that problem needs to be dealt with come final version.

No, you type something (or see a non-clickable URL), then you highlight it, then you'll see the option of opening it on a new tab, the current tab or a new window.

the links below my address bar do not link to any microsoft page.

Google Pack. Are the AntiVirus and Spyware any good? Is StarOffice better than OpenOffice? Is Google Desktop useful? How advanced is Picasa? Anyone use this? I wonder how much of it is actually free.
