Default Help with my Linksys router

So I have a Linksys router.

It's worked fine until a few weeks ago, in which it started working really badly. Opening a page would sometimes cause nothing to happen, and then sometimes when it did load, it wouldn't load all of the images on the page, leaving me with an ugly looking text-only version.

The thing is that I have numerous other things connected to the router as well, including a laptop (wirelessly) and an Xbox (wired) and they work fine.

I have a WRT54G2.

This is actually a system issue, not a router issue. I don't remember what causes it, but I recall that increasing the number of allowed half-open connections will fix it. Use the EvID4226 patch to fix it.

I'm not sure if you can trust me on this............but a lot of my tech-geek compadres often mention on how sucky products from Cisco SYstem were.

Dunno if it applies now.

Feel free to increase the limit even more if it's still a problem. I have mine set to 65536. I read that Windows XP SP2 limits the connections to 8 to slow the spread of worms, but in practice that won't stop them at all because they will still spread to enough computers if none of them are protected well in the first place.

It's working slowly again, how would I increase the number of open connections?

Just run the patcher again to change the limit. However, unless you started using some other program that uses a lot of connections, I would look elsewhere for the problem. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to change your firmware to DD-WRT.

As a network engineer, you are now banned from all discussions on this board involving networking.
