Default Installshield problem

I just recently downloaded UT3 (legally) and now whenever I try and install it, installshield gives me the error "Feature transfer error: Error -2 Transform Package." It specifically does this when it's trying to install AEGIA PhysX which I already have from the demo.

So far I tried redownloading, and uninstlaling PhysX, and downloading PhysX from its website. None of this has worked. Do you know of any solutions (google was useless)?

Try maybe reinstalling the Windows Installer? Download details: Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable

(that's for x86, I don't know the link for x64, and this is for XP and not Vista).

No, I don't. But that didn't prevent me from installing PhysX and playing the UT3 demo, why would it do it for the retail release?

I'm confused... Why install 'PhysX' if you don't have one of their crappy unnecessary cards?

Or do they force you to?

Pretty sure it doesn't force you, but he probably didn't know what the deuce it was and just installed it for the demo.

If you don't have one, don't get one. Maybe UT3 will domino more games to use it and then it might be worth getting later on.

I'm thinking the problem isn't even with PhysX, as even when I cancel the installation it still gives me that error.

welp I decided to torrent the disk image. why doesn't D2D offer a torrent option? it would dissipate the large amount of traffic, especially as most of the files are above 3 GBs. it would also assure people don't get stuck in my position, which is, my zips were probably corrupt. if I had the values for the correct hashes, mine would probably be totally off.

...because it's one of only a handful of direct download option for video games that also has discounts on some games when pre-ordering. The only other decent system for ordering games without having physical media is steam, and UT3 is not available through that.

Have you even used D2D before? Or are you just parroting other people's opinion on the internet when some users had problems installing Bioshock on systems that couldn't run it? I've purchased two games through D2D without issues.

Direct2Drive from like 2 years ago on that FilePlanet.

Of course I've never used it, why the hell would I want to.

I wouldn't mind Steam, and yes that's D2D but not the FilePlanet one... I guess EA have that gay 'EA Link' or whatever it's called now...
