iPhone 3g was just announced starting at $199 for 8gb. 3G, GPS, flush headphone jack, 3rd party apps, exchange support. 2 colors black and white. I don't know how I feel about the design of it but I'm pretty excited about 3g and the price.

I don't know about the design. I need to see it in person. It looks pretty plastic. I'm definitely going to buy it either way, probably waiting outside of the Apple store on the 11th. Maybe Eddie will get one and wait with me.
I would say I'm most excited about 3rd party apps and that the iPhone will be in 70 countries within the next few months.

Pretty lame there's no 'trade' in program for already iPhone users. Beside from the speed, there's nothing really I'd like that it offers. I already have mine jailbroken, so skins, and apps aren't out of the question. | |

They fixed A LOT of the things that made me say no to the first iPhone, but I still love my Windows Mobile handset and I'm not about to give it up for an Apple device, especially after the nightmare that was AppleCare for my iPod Video.

although i just realized how crappy of a deal it is, since i just now see that they are raising the cost of their unlimited data plan by $10 a month, which comes out to a delightful extra $240 over 2 years. hrmm.
i really hope tmobile gets the 3G together some day. i've been with them for like 8 years now. dirt cheap but i really really really would love to have 3G by now. | |

I wonder what the black/white plastic is actually going to look like though. Those pictures look to me like they're rendered, or maybe doctored or something, and the gloss doesn't really tell me much about what it would really look like in my hand.
I wonder if the price drop on the iPhone is going to result in a corresponding price drop on the iPod Touch? It doesn't seem like it would make sense to have the 8gb Touch cost more than the 8gb Phone which is supposed to do more. I'm on a Verizon family plan so there is no chance I'm going to get a Phone, but I have been eyeing the Touch for awhile.
