Default iPod Nano (3rd Gen) heating & not charging

OK, so the iPod Nano I've been borrowing/trying to fix is acting weird. When I plug it in to the computer, it'll connect, but it'll get SO hot that it's almost impossible to touch & when I take it out, it shows that it didn't charge at all. Sometimes, if I take it out & put it back it, it might charge (I can tell because it isn't hot). Any reason why it might be doing this? Everything else works fine on it...

Right now, it's stuck on the Apple symbol screen, no matter if I've left it plugged or unplugged. I'll try the hard reset to see if it works.

Alright, it seems to have worked, but I seem to have recalled that it'll only work for a few times. I'd also like to know why it was doing it. I can't help to think that if the iPod keeps getting overheated, then the motherboard will get fried & thus get broken (which I DON'T need since I'm borrowing this until I get enough money for a new Zune).

For some reason, it'll charge fine if I do the hard reset & then plug it in, but after unplugging it & plugging it back in, it'll still heat up....

Alright, not it's not restoring OR charging. Every time I plug it in & go to iTunes, it says that it's corrupted & I need to restore it, so I try to, but I got Error 1439 which says "The iPod couldn't be restored. An unknown error occurred".

.......HOLD IT!!!

I took it to school today to see if it would charge & amazingly, it charged w/o overheating!! & when I connected it to my laptop, it was able to restore! So for some reason, my laptop (& my dad's desktop computer) makes the iPod overheat for some reason....
