Default Looking for a keyboard audio program...

I'm looking for an audio program that lets me assign sounds/music to keyboard (PC keyboard) keys, and when I press that key, the sound plays. Like a (musical) keyboard/synthesizer but for PC. A friend gave me an idea of hooking my rhythm game controllers to my PC and using them as instruments so I thought this could be a way to go.

EDIT: Must be able to load .wav files for sounds, multiple ones also.

I had some luck with Sweet Little Piano way back in the day, and it works decently enough. Capture that MIDI output as a .wav or something, and you could probably come up with something cool

Will that allow me to set up multiple .wav files at a time on different keys?
Hmm this program doesn't let me load .wav files, multiple ones at that.

Hmm, if you're trying to use it for .wav files, you might want to look for virtual drum kit software, rather than something designed to replicate for piano. Most of the piano-key software I've ever used is midi-only, while some of the drum software I've seen in passing uses customizable .wav samples. No specific reccs for ya, though :-/

I found a program called SoundPlant (Soundplant by Marcel Blum home page) that kinda does what I want. It can load multiple .wav files to any key I want. But playback is sorta laggy. It's delayed from when I press the key to when I hear the note, and its not real smooth when I am pressing a steady rhythm (it staggers and double-plays the sound occasionally). But this is the kind of program I'm looking for. If anyone has any other suggestions, please post.

FLStudio has that feature, using the keyboard as a controller. Load up a sampler and away you go!

Or, I'm talking about the wrong thing.....
