Need a free video converter

I basically just need a converter that I could download online that'd convert videos (stuff like mostly .avi, some .flv, & others) into .mp4 for my Zune. Right now, I have DVDVideoSoft Free Studio, which takes a long time for it to convert & almost as long for my Zune to convert the video onto itself.

I had Encode 360 for awhile, but for some reason, it just stopped working & it won't let me redownload it because of an "error"...That worked great. I could have it encode one video after another while I was sleeping & it wouldn't show on the screen or be minimized.

IDK if this will work but have you tried just changing the extension to mp4? I change avi's to mpeg all the time so my PS3 will play them (even though it's supposed to play avi anyway :P) and it magically works.

I see what they did there. I also see that it does DPG, so I might give this a try tomorrow morning.

[Edit]Scratch that, I'm using it right now. It looks very interesting, having all of the options on a single page. I'm encoding a thing right now and comparing it against videos that I converted with BatchDPG. I find it odd how the default video bitrate is 432, as opposed to the BatchDPG default of 224. Let's see how this turns out.

Tried that expansion thing & SUPER site about a year ago & both of those didn't work, but I'm willing to retry the SUPER coverter again....If I could find the download link...

OK found it. Gonna give it a try.

.....It's taking quite awhile. I think longer than the one I already have. & it's only 77 MBs compared to the .avi which are usually about 140-160 MBs....Would've been nice to know how much longer it'll take to convert, but that bar above the file names doesn't say it...

*SIIIGGHHHH* It's almost TWICE as long as the one I have now. It still takes a crapload of time for it to get on the Zune even AFTER being converted. Now I know why I didn't stick with it a year ago.

So, anyone else have any suggestions?

In conclusion, this thing sucks. I can't get any video to encode, but I get audio streams just fine.

Downloaded this & gonna have it be converting something right now.

I like how it hides w/o having a minimized bar at the bottom & still convert (like Encode 360). That's gonna be nice when I want to convert stuff overnight. I also like having a "preview" to see how it'll look on a MP3 player.

W....T....F?! I converted it to MP4 & my Zune says that it's an invalid file type! Well, I re-installed Firefox so I could have it set to Zune settings...if I can just find where it is...
