Default need help with a Verizon wireless model# LG 5200 data cable

Please, could anyone who is familiar with cell phone technology help me out here.

I have a basic bottom-of-the-line Verizon wireless model # LG 5200.

For the longest time I've wanted to be able to transfer te pictures I have taken on my phone to my computer. So I bought a data link cable that allows you to link your phone with your computer, however, when I simply use the cable to link my phone with my computer, I recieve a message saying "The hardware was not installed because the program could not be found."
So I would assume I need to install some sort of program that would allow my computer to completely link with my phone and allow me to exchange the picture data.

But, to my dismay, wen I went to Verizon wireless just this morning to ask the about the program, they said they do not offer any program that exchanges picture data between the phone and the pc, and that the only way to get your pictures is by sending them through e-mail.

WHAAAAAAAAAT???
There must be some way to exchange the data. If it means downloading/purchasing a specific program, I will in the blink of an eye. But I don't know what kind of program I need.

WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO REGARDING MY PROBLEM!!!

As always help from anyone here is greatly appreciated!

This is a tough one, the Verizon salesperson is correct. Verizon are all douches in the sense they take all their phones and reflash the software so there is no compatibility with computers. I had the same problem with my Motorola razr. I was able to work my way around it by using a MicroSD card as a storage device inside the phone and then removing the SD card and plugging it into the computer. I don't know if your phone supports SD cards but if it does, its the easiest way to get pictures off your phone without having to reflash the entire phone software.

Not sure if this does what you're looking for, but there's a program called BitPim, and it supposedly does fantastic things with cell phones through the computer.
