I overwrote my windows Vista OS with the pre-release of Windows 7 and now Windows 7 is going to expire leaving me without an OS. Is there any way I could get (as in download for free) a Windows Home Premium disc to install windows Vista again? My computer has a serial number on the side for the OS, so all I need to the disc to install the OS once again.
Please help guys, got only a couple days left!

If you know anybody who owns a windows vista disc, it doesn't matter which disc you use. You can use a Vista Ultimate 32-bit disc, but if you enter a Vista Home Premium product key, it will install Home Premium on your system.

No one I know has the OS either, and my computer did not come with a recovery disc, which is very aggravating. If anyone can point me in the right direction (to a download or torrent)that would be great considering I can only find shit like "windows Vista Black Edition", which is not a official release.

According to the laws in most countries, they have to.

Thanks for your help!

I heard you could extend the trial, but I already activated the key some time ago obviously, so hats not going to help. So tomorrow I am going to back up my files, and just use the shitty Vista Black version OS until the actual Restore discs come in the mail. Should be in only a couple days though, however its shipping FedEx, and nothing that ever ships FedEx gets to me in one piece.

Go into system properties and reactivate your key.
I'm running the RC version and I WAS running the Beta, you shouldn't be having a problem yet

HOWEVER I am having 2 problems now.
1. I have two monitors hooked up to my computer, one being a TV a couple feet away, and one being the monitor I actually use. I used to always have the monitors duplicated so I can sit down and watch a movie, play a game on a bigger screen etc. However I dont have the option to duplicate displays, only extend them.
2. This sounds very stupid... I know. I used to save a bookmark in firefox so every time opened it all I would have to do is click the arrow in the right of the address bar. However when I am saving bookmarks they dont show up on the list when I click the arrow. Nothing is showing up (I dont like to view history so thats off also). How do I go along fixing this?
EDIT: Monitor Problem fixed. I am still having problems with the firefox favorites showing up when I click the down arrow in the address bar though.

all you need to do is google your OS in this Fashion: "Download [OS Name]". If that doesn't get you any results, just modify what you have already searched by adding words like 'free'. I hope this helps you some and future people with this problem! | |
