im sure the mac pro is powerful as hell, even with its steep price. But buying it and upgrading it is like buying an expensive car and upgrading it.
Ok, thats a bad analogy. 5k is just kinda expensive for a computer to begin with. Having to upgrade a top line computer is kinda ironic, isnt it? Its supposed to be their best computer for a reason.

I've only had 4 computers in my life. The first 2 lasted about 4 years each and my other two are currently being used. One by me one by my sister because she breaks hers.
You guys have to realize. This thing is going to be two computers in one. A high end mac and a high end pc. Think of it as buying two computers for $2500. Yay, somewhat justified? I'm not going to use the windows part a whole lot, but I do intend to use a little bit for a couple games (my laptop is going to do most of the gaming.), but none the less I need it to be able to run some windows things and still be able to do the mac stuff. Also (off topic), I absolutely love Final Cut Studio. I don't know how I lasted so long without it. Screw Adobe Premiere

Personally if I wanted a Mac and 1 TB of storage I'd buy this and then get an external HD. The Apple Store (U.S.) - Refurbished Mac Pro Quad 3.0GHz Intel Xeon
It's about as good as what you've got there, has more RAM, and costs tons less. The only thing you seem to lose there is the HD space, which you can easily get back for about $350. Amazon.com: Western Digital 1 TB MyBook Premium External Hard Drive 1394A/USB 2.0: Electronics
Well, you're about $1350 below, but no monitor, right? But now you can get this. The Apple Store (U.S.) - Refurbished Apple Cinema HD Display (30-inch flat panel w/ aluminum enclosure)
So now you're about $150 over, but you didn't have to buy more RAM, you have 250 GB more space, and your monitor is hueg liek xbox.
That's a pretty hot package, unless you avoid refurbs like the plague. I know some people do, but they've never done me wrong...
