Default OpenOffice

This is like some kind of free version of Microsoft Office. I just downloaded it and it seems like just Microsoft Office with new names and a new look. And it's 100% official, free, and legal.

Check it out: openoffice.org

This is great since I don't have MSOffice on one of my computers. I'll try it out and see how it is.

OpenOffice.org Impress is the gayest free program I ever used. Have you ever seen even one scene transition with one of those?

I love OpenOffice outside of the PowerPoint thing (as Exy mentioned). When I reformatted my computer I decided to take a more open source path and chose 7-Zip over WinRAR/WinZIP, OpenOffice over Microsoft Office, Foxit Reader over Adobe Reader, and Songbird over iTunes. :]

Do tell.

If it's any good for animations I'm interested.

I remember trying to use OpenOffice two years ago. Everything was shit, ran slowly, and it's "file compatibility" was a joke. Fucked up a lot of Word documents I had. I guess it would be ok if you didn't already many documents and excel spreadsheets and whatnot.

I've never bothered trying any of the other programs other than Impress but I'll take your word for it. I would recommend this only for the desperate.

Same.

I don't like how people try to go open-source just for the sake of going open-source (not TC). If you don't have Office and you don't want to spend the cash, okay, but otherwise, what the fuck?

Microsoft really has more solid products than people give them credit for.

I would also like to add that Office 2003 is the best version ever and I would never want to be forced to upgrade to any later version.

2007 isn't that bad, especially when you get used to the new tabbed layout.
