Default TO OWNERS OF A 30GB ZUNE!!!! READ A.S.A.P.

I have experienced something this mourning. My Zune froze. I checked online and found out that other people with a 30GB zune are having the same issue. I am not sure if other Zunes are having the same thing, but across the forums of Zune, there are people wondering why. I went on Zune.net and under support, they have posted that there are a lot of people experiencing this who have the 30GB Zune. People have stated on the forums that they called the Zune Support, and that they have been on hold for more than 50mins. But I am currently on hold right now. Anyways, I would probably advise that you should call Zune Support, even though you might think it's a waste of your time, but if you want to know what is going on I would suggest this regardless. But I figured I would spread the word on.

~Sincerely,
Deathangelx13x

Hmmm, I wonder if I should check my Zune to see if it's OK (then again, maybe I shouldn't). It worked fine around 1 AM (EST) today, so I wonder if mine's alright. Microsoft has said that they're aware of the issue & working on it. Is it just the old models (like I have) or is it also affecting the 2nd model 30GBs?

& it seems people are calling it the Z2K bug. I think any Zunes w/ the 3.1 firmware update have them (& 3.0 made my Zune freeze most of the time, which resulted in a bunch of resets).

It effected both. But I think it's what you are saying about the firmware 3.1 update. I am not sure. But I will find out when they let me trough because I am still on hold.

I read on Gizmodo that someone had a Zune w/ a older firmware & it works fine, so I'm betting it's the 3.1 update.

Yeah, mine isn't working either. I tried it by connecting it to the computer. I can't even shut it off. 1st thing I saw when I clicked support was a message about the 30GBs freezing.

Someone mentions a fix, but for some, it's only works temporarily, not to mention you gotta open up the Zune, which I don't perfer to do.

I think it's because we had a leap year & the Zune software doesn't understand the 366th day (from what I've read). Gizmodo

I'd like to know why it's only the 30GB models.

I'd say just wait until your Zune runs out of battery (which can take quite a while), then change the computer date to sometime in 2009, then see if it works.

Or just wait until tomorrow to try it. Either way, I'm just gonna use my PSP to listen to the newest songs that I added.

Didn't you know? '123120080200' is a secret code that nukes all data on your ZUNE.

That's why you buy an iPood.

By the by, a power drain does crap. You need to do a 'hard reset'. Which means you're going to have to mess with it with a screwdriver and popping the lid.

MS hasn't said anything about a fix yet aside from the fact 'they're isolating the issue'.

Maybe. I just called Best Buy and they told me to call Microsoft directly and find out what to do from there. Because they haven't heard of non of this yet either.. which surprises me. But not only that they don't know either. So I am guessing to sit back and wait.

Yeah, mine took a shit too. Oh well, just wait until MS fixes the issue. Who knows how long that will take though. Well, for now Pandora will have to do.

I am currently doing this.

I let my Zune die.
Then When I hit play it showed a battery with a !
Then I plugged it in.
After a while I waited until the Zune logo and white bar appeared.
Then I did the Back - Left - OK, which clears the contents.
Right now I am waiting for it to be done.
What I am going to do is either wait for Zune to put up a new firmware or whatever and in the mean time when all of the contents is clear, including the firmware I am going to wait to see what MS does. But if you want to do this go ahead and let know what happens. Because I have a lot of stuff on mine so it's taking a while. If you have less stuff on yours then do this. You can help me with this theory and idea. Let me know how it goes.

I let mine die too (man, it felt warm). I feel like trying the "switch the computer to another day" trick that I read somewhere.
