Total Tokens: 41,959.84 Donate Tokens | Questions regading to Xbox 360 hardware & accessories I'm thinking of getting the Elite 360 because of the hard drive, but I don't know if this is the right thread here. It may apply to Technology, or Other Gaming. If so, go ahead and move it there. Anyways, I don't know much about the 360 wireless network adapter. Do I have to have a wifi adapter with the 360's network adapter to do Xbox Live, or can it go online alone?
Another question because I may have to plan ahead - how can the Red Ring of Death be avoided, if it is possible? And can you copy pictures, properly converted movies and music to the hard drive from USB Flash Drives? I want to put a wallpaper on the 360 interface.

Avoiding the RROD? Don't leave the damn thing on when you aren't playing it, and I believe you can copy over things from a flash drive but I'm not positive.

The 360's network adapter will pick up any wireless network, permitted that it is not 802.11n (as far as I know- they may have updated it). Also, what deathrazor said. The wireless network adapter is kind of a ripoff. Quote:

I've had my Xbox for just under 2 years now, and I haven't done anything specific to prevent the RRoD. It's seen its fair share of use, so either I'm really lucky or it's not hard to keep a 360 from dying. Quote:

As far as movies and music, just keep them on the flash drive. Now that you can install games to the HDD, you're gonna want the extra space.

Also, regards to rrod, my friend had it once, but it was serviced easily.

And no, there is no monthly fee or whatever. The only fee associated with using live is paying for however many months of access you buy at a time (well and DLC but that's a different story).

If you're asking if it's like the Wii, no. It has an ethernet jack. Use a cat5 cable. If you're asking something else, phrase it better because I have no idea what you're asking. Quote: |

| Turn your shit off when you're not using it, dust occasionally, and leave it horizontal. I'll be honest, the 360 is not a well-built system. You're taking a chance with any model. With that said, newer ones are less prone to failure, and I'm running a launch box with no problems beyond a lack of hard drive space. Quote: |

| Yeah, you can do this, but with the NXE dash it'll look pretty crummy. For music and movies, use TVersity or Windows Media Center to stream to the system from your PC and you'll save a lot of drive space and time. | |

Thanks for the heads up on Orb though, I haven't heard of it before and I'll definitely check it out

That's the problem I have, so I use it, and to be honest it works pretty well. That is reliant on the strength of your own home network, of course.
