Sup I was using this computer this morning and it was fine.
Now tonight every single sound that is played has a healthy dose of reverb in it and it sounds like I'm in a karaoke room.
I'm using headphones, unable to use speakers because this is a public computer.
I've looked through all the codecs installed on the sound card and tried disabling each of them to no avail. The driver was last updated in 2003. This is also the only computer in the dorms with sound and I would like to have that sound without reverb.
Well I figured out part of the problem. Having ActiveX running causes the reverb.*
But that doesn't explain why there was no reverb this morning. I guess it's an ActiveX setting? I wasn't able to change the settings in hardware acceleration but both sliders are at maximum.
I would love to check the ActiveX settings but this computer is in Korean and I don't know Korean computer terms so well.
*Since this is a public computer, especially one in Korea**, I have to use what's available. Unless you can install Flash on Firefox Portable.
**For some reasons Koreans use IE† and most sites in Korea are optimized for IE.
†A good portion of public computers in Korea have not updated to IE7‡, which make some sites inaccessible even though they're optimized for IE.
Yeah I think it was a setting in the Realtek settings. No more reverb, even when ActiveX is involved! Thanks guys. I really appreciate it and would make love to you if I could. But I'm in another country so that can't happen. Too bad if you were looking forward to it.
