Default Stepmania running on Intel Atom N230?

I want to get myself one of those Mini PC's that uses the Intel Atom processor.

Just one question, will it run Stepmania? I know it will run videos and do basic tasks.
At least, I think it should be able to handle movies just fine. Am I wrong?

Heres the specs of the mini pc:
Intel Atom Single Core N230 1.6GHz
Mainboard Intel945GCLF
Memory DDR2 1GB
HDD 160GB Sata
Windows XP/ Ubuntu Linux

I also have the choice of using Intel Atom Dual Core N330 1.6GHz

So what do you think? Will it handle Stepmania?

It's not like stepmania is THAT processor-intensive, so I don't see why not.

Agreed

@ to the thread OP
In fact, if you read one of the reviews for the Diamondville processors, you'd notice that these things can actually run HD videos without a hitch. And since it's just Stepmania, then this would be a piece of cake.

Hope that helps

Minimum Requirements

In short, yes. It's well over the requirements to run it.

Your only possible problem is going to be the screen resolution. Netbooks have a special-sized screen that uses a different resolution than standard notebooks. Stepmania might stretch to fit the screen, I'm not sure, but I can guess it does not have a compatible resolution with netbooks. It stretching the screen could cause video lag here and there and will likely make the arrows look either too wide or too thin, but all in all you should be able to play it.

I would recommend just buying a real laptop though, you can get a pretty decent one for about 100-150 more than a netbook and you'll be a lot happier in the long run.

Unless he already has one and just needs something for trips and stuff. I would get a netbook for things like that, personally.

Stepmania runs fine on my N270, but I did upgrade to 2gb of ram. Depending on what theme you run and how many songs you have, you may or may not lag like shit in the song select. Framerates are usually fine and the only time there's a real problem is if I'm running other shit in the background, then there's a blip every now and then. Also, yeah, the screen is kind of a weird resolution, but you'll still be able to play fine without distortion.

So, in short, yes, you can play stepmania.

That's interesting.

Though, isn't that most Intel Atom units (with the exception of those bundled under the Nvidia Ion platform) are only equipped with Intel Integrated Graphics (esp. the dreaded and crappy GMA 950)? So you're saying that it can still run fine even on crappy GMA 950 graphics?
