Default Trouble with Vista (SURPRISE SURPRISE)

I wanna downgrade to XP, but this damn computer isn't letting me.

I try to install XP from Vista(I was gonna put it onto another drive), but when I put my XP CD in, it grays out the option to install.

And when I try to install XP from the system start up, it doesn't boot from the CD.

I don't really understand what's going on. I checked my BIOS, and it's booting from the CD drive first.

Bleh.

Is your copy of Windows XP OEM?

As in, it came with your computer and is probably branded with the manufacturer's logo on the disc.

Then your system might not be compatible with XP. you could just learn to live with Vista.

Ah, well, I had a copy of XP that a friend of mine burned for me, and I had my own CD key from a previous computer that I bought.

My Vista hasn't been purchase, and my 160-day(I think) trial is up, and needs to be activated before I can use it again. I don't have a problem with Vista, but I don't really have the resources to keep it around(like, say, a product key). I'd buy it, but I don't have the 100 dollars it probably takes to get the basic home version of it.

If all else fails, I'll probably have to buy XP and get a brand new key for it. I'm sure it's not 100 bucks anymore.

Yeah Vista really can't be that bad just change the layout to look like XP and disable all the fancy new crap and you won't be able to tell the difference. I'm pretty sure this can be done.

Just don't try to open or save any files in anything outside of Office.

Yeah, I agree. Vista is the shit; I actually fell in love with it.

I'm a big gamer, though, and I know that XP wields better frame rates than Vista does, so that'll make the degrade a LOTTLE easier to swallow(and I spelled it that way on purpose).

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

alright well what you need to do is this, 1. Go out and get a disc that goes with your key. Or, reburn a disc. your friend mightve burned you a copy that works well enough for upgrades, but it doesnt seem like its proper for bootable. Get a bootable copy.

Then, You might have to erase your entire hard disk to get the installer to run.
