Unable to delete certain empty folders after a message

I am running into an issue on my computer. I modified the file in one folder and tried to move it. The files and folder move, but the original folder won't remove even if I tried to delete it. Apparently, ending explorer.exe and restarting it fixed this, but I can't do that due to small memory and lackluster processor. I am using Windows XP SP2. Anyone know what is wrong here?

If closing explorer.exe fixes it, then that means explorer.exe was using the folder for something. The only way to delete it is to end the exe.

What kind of system are you running that is so slow you can't end explorer and restart it?

or try going into the properties on the folder, and turning off the read-only option if it is on.

I've said that before, and I'll say it again - hp pavilion xt963 unmodified via Windows XP (Installed SP2 in 2005). Here's more details. I found the problem is that when it is updating after saving a notepad file and I hit back while it's doing that, the folder cannot be removed. Ever (well, until I restart Win XP or close & restart explorer). I'm thinking this is a bug in my computer or the OS.

If you're really desperate to remove them I guess you can get a Linux LiveCD and delete it with that.
