I swear somewhere i read that you could buy an attatchment that plugs into your usb thumbdrive and it would act as your mp3 player is there anything that is like that?

I've never heard of anything like that, but if such a device exists that will work with USB hard drives then I will stop at nothing to have one eventually.

That would be so awsome. I have a 20GB mp3 player which is useless cause the touchscreen is screwed.

I vaguely remember something like this on thinkgeek but I checked and no dice, apparently Lexar had the JumpGear back a few years ago that was exactly what I was wanting but they no longer sell/support them. I know they make things to make SD flash cards into USB flashdrives but thats not exactly what i want lol.. I don't know whats stopping people from making said attachment other than the fact it would ruin any company's sales of mp3 players.

Akira: The halfbakery thing was just saying the same thing i said looking for the same thing I was but no one could come up with anything but the Lexar jumpgear but it doesnt exist anymore afaik. I know there are Car stereo's and DVD players that allow USB flashdrives but thats not what I was asking for  , nor was I asking for mp3 players that have expansion slots for more space.
I ended up just snagging a cheap mp3 player from bestbuy on black friday, but I still wonder if they have what I was originally asking for. Generally speaking all I was thinking of was take a USB Flashdrive and have a small box with a screen if not a screen do it shuffle style and just have a small box that you stick onto the USB port of the flashdrive and instant Mp3 player that you can just stick the headphones into the little box attachment.
