I'm sure this has been talked about 837965485134054 times but I don't feel like searching.
So anyway, I know quite a bit about computers, but networking is what I'm really not very familiar with. That being said, here are my results from speedtest.net:
Yeah, I know these stats absolutely SUCK. I mean I'm downloading a 1.2 GB update file on my 360; I started the download around 8:30 AM and it's probably just barely halfway done. It's 2:30 right now. WTF.
The stats say my results are drastically lower than the ISP average (Bellsouth) and that it'll take over 7 hours for me to download an 800MB file.
From my personal experience, my download speed usually hovers around 30 kbps. If I'm lucky one day, I'll get around 100 kbps. It's not much better though, it still takes ages to download anything larger than a few MB.
So my question is, why? Is there anything I can do to get at least a decent connection speed? According to my Broadband plan I'm supposed to have a 6 Mbps connection. Clearly this is not even close. I've put up with it for almost 2 years, but I know this just isn't right.
