ah, if it's poor wiring that is almost certainly the problem. unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it unless you want to put down the money for a UPS
And to think this could all have been avoided if my dad just had the gall to hire some actual mason workers instead of insisting on building this excuse for a patio himself.
You could invest in a power-conditioner. They're less expensive than UPSes, but offer a constant stream of power, minus the battery-backup that a UPS offers.
