Despite it looks ugly, it is very slow, and manouvering through it is very diffucult, as the controls are very clunky. My computer originally started as a Windows ME, and it was one of the first non-white/grey case (in 2000, HP was releasing limited-time-only black and silver cases, and my parents just happened to get a case at this time). Now I have an XP (as of 2002), and I think XP is decent compared to ME, but with XP I get a lot of glitches (I had to re-install the OS about 8 times in the last 6 years).
What do you guys think is the worst OS?

Hey aren't Microsoft following a trend here?

I remember one of the 95s being pretty buggy, i was really happy when 98 and 98 SE came out because they crashed a whole lot less. SE was really solid for its time.

I had it on my computer at one point and I absolutely wanted to kill the people that put it on there.

Windows ME was pathetic. It makes Vista look clean. It was buggy, per haps more buggy than 98 (my girlfriend has a 98, not giving me any problems). Just the process of upgrading from a ME to an XP was headache causing, and my family spent $2000 on the computer because it was a *limited edition case,* that is now the norm with all HP desktops... Those bastards...

From a consumer standpoint it sucks, but a lot of its annoyances that are coming now are LONG needed security measures that they have been ignoring.

So instead of saying ME Blows, let's state why
Aside from the typical errors, ME tends to get unstable everytime you make a cold boot NO COMMAND PROMPT OPTION ON STARTUP - number one reason for me
Hanging and crashing "Help and Support" keeps on loading everytime you go to safe mode
Some old hardware drivers for win9x doesn't work at all
that's all for me so far
EDIT: User Access Control is one of the biggest mistakes in Vista

I'm just saying it's horrble. I don't want to argume with a moderator, because I have done that many times on other forums, and opinions are opinions... Sorry for the previous post.
Personally for me, Windows ME was bad, and it was the very first Windows computer my family has ever gotten. We used to use an iMac (the old 1998 ones) before (which I loved). When my father was first installing the necessities for ME, it started to act up. It lagged. Well yeah, it was useful, but my fondest memory of it was waiting 10 minutes for it to start up.
Then 2 years later, my family decided to take the entire case in to have the technition look at it and see what was wrong with it. The computer was utterly unusable at this point. Loading a folder would show a progress bar (yes, a folder), and it could take hours to type a report (as now I was in the 5th grade, and typed reports were starting to become the norm). Printing was also a hassle. I had to save the document onto floppy disk, and take it to the library, where they would charge $0.20 per page (I hate Turlock's library).
The technitian replaced EVERYTHING in the case (keep in mind, that this is a two-year-old computer we were dealing with), saying that it got too warm, and things started to melt/burn including my motherboard (which burned three more times down the next six years), my hard-drive, my CD drive, and my floppy drive. He added a backup disk (because I didn't have one), and a second drive (for burning CDs), and upgraded the OS to an XP. I am typing with the XP that the technitian gave us that day. AND THE BEST PART!!! Total cost for all of the repairing: $3000... We basically bought a new computer while keeping the old case.
This is why I hate Windows ME. I bet if I gave it a second chance, I would not hate it as much. I am grateful for my 6-year-old XP... It's showing signs of aging though...
