Default wtf sound...

So, I ran into my desk on accident and now my speakers are putting out this mega high pitched squeek. I had this once before, but I don't remember how I fixed it. Any thoughts?

Well, I disabled my second set of speakers and it stopped. But now I can't use my second set of speakers...

Creative X-Fi Platinum if that really matters.

Are there any cell phones or microwaves around?

Uhh, nope. It's not that kind of sound though. It's a much higher pitch, like.. 24khz. I changed the settings back to 4 speakers after I restarted my computer and it's not doing it anymore.

What exactly did you run into/jar, your computer case or ???

btw, the human ear cant hear 24kHz, only up to 20kHz so you're probably hearing something around 18.2-19.2kHz if it makes any difference ;P

I ran into the desk that that computer is on.

Also, I can hear up to around 25khz. My ears are mega sensitive.

thats strange, never heard of anything that extreme. Have you made sure that your sound card is seated in its slot correctly and that there is no physical damage to the card? Have a run through your case and make sure everythings clean and undamaged.

My computer is mounted on a piece of wood. I can clearly see all of the parts and everything is seated properly.

I'm not sure what caused it though. It's weird that it stopped after I restarted.

Mounted on wood? lol thats pretty strange. I dunno man, but I don't think computers like to be jolted around when they're on. Did the problem just miraculously fix itself or something?

Yea. It went away after it was restarted. I haven't had trouble since then.
