Zune 3.0 Update is up

Both the firmware & software are updated. I got mine. Updates include:

- Being able to play games (Hexic & Texas Hold 'Em are included for free). I don't see Games in the Marketplace yet...

- FINALLY, A FREAKIN' CLOCK!! I can't believe it took this long for them to add one. I've waited a year (i.e since I got one last year for my b-day) for this. It's in the top-right corner.

- Being able to download & buy songs via Wi-Fi hot spots.

- Screen Lock will let you make a password so people don't get into your stuff.

- The Main Menu has smaller font, mostly due to the fact that "Marketplace" & "Games" have been added.

Some other stuff & impressions

& yes, all this will work on the original 30GB Zune (which I have).

still no unicode support? What the fuck microsoft? It can't be that hard to implement.

fuck ipod, the zune just keeps getting better

i love how they still wholly support the old 30gig which i have as much as the newest model

Hmm........

I was hoping for some competition as well (since even if Creative makes neat MP3 and music players, they still can't come close to Apple Ipod)

Unfortunately, this thing will not *officially* hit overseas as of this decade.

P.S.
Europe would get it late next year..........but for the rest of us, I feel that I don't see it happening until after year 2010.

BAAAAAH! It appears that the new update is causing quite a few glitches (like locking up when I choose a song & not repeating a song when it's at the last 10 seconds when I press back & it'll go to the next song, but for some reason, some songs will be fine. I need to report this to Microsoft.

Resetted my Zune (took everything off. Still putting movies back on) & while it doesn't freeze, it still won't let me repeat....I don't know if this is just for me or not...

I get what you're saying here, and yeah it's nice to see firmware updates for the old models that give it the same functionality as the newer models but I mean this "new" stuff doesn't put it ahead of the iPod at all:

• Clock - Has always been available with the iPod?
• Games - Simple games were on iPod 3G and 4G (never used 2G or 1G) and then more polished games are on 5.5G and up.
• Wireless Marketplace - Is a feature of the iPod Touch

I mean I have the same bias against Apple products that you (seem to) have, but Microsoft is not being particularly innovative with this update.
