Perfect timing, as my 1st Gen Zune broke about 2 weeks ago. More info will be revealed at E3, but so far, we know the following:
- 3.3 inch, 480 x 272 OLED capacitive multi-touchscreen display
- built-in HD Radio receiver
- HD output

Marketplace Rating: 0 | The OLED screen, HDMI port and FM Radio are neat IMHO. Still, the content access may not yet be as solid (if it can be as good as the itunes store)......but we'll know more about it soon enough hehe
Likewise, I hope Apple steps it when they'll announced updates to the Ipod Touch later on this year. Competition is good indeed

Unfortunately, I don't think MS has sold the Zune outside of the Americas (haven't seen any in local Philippine stores officially) which is quite too bad. It could help spurce up some pricing competition against the Ipod Touch (which is the dominant device in this segment) followed by what Creative and Sony are offering. So I hope this Zune HD would make it to more overseas markets real soon.
P.S.
Though atm, my only plans for a touchscreen music player are:
-the upcoming Ipod Touch (which is due to receive updates)
-Sony Walkman X-series (which is originally the world's first music device to use an OLED screen)

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I honestly hope that they include Asian font support. I find it ridiculous that my Sandisk 512MB MP3 player that can't play videos that's about 5 years old supports it, & yet Microsoft hasn't provided it in an update all this time. It was annoying having those squares on my Zune.
Microsoft's E3 Press Conference is Tuesday at 1 PM (EST), so maybe then we'll see new info. Sadly, all the press conferences at E3 will be happening while I'm at school (CRAP), so I'm just going to see what the sites consider "key moments" (i.e new hardware, new games, etc.).

Marketplace Rating: 0 | New info:
- Will run on the NVIDIA Tegra processor, which is the 1st chip that supports Adobe Flash acceleration, which means the Zune HD could be the 1st portable device to have an integrated Flash Player.
- UNICODE SUPPORT, FINALLY.
- Rumor that because the Zune HD will run on the Tegra chip, it'll be able to have 25 DAYS worth of a charge for music, or 10 hours for HD videos. & play Quake at 46 fps. But that's the chip itself. Hopefully, this'll carry over to the Zune HD since it'll have the chip.
- The Tegra chip can also decode a video stream using just 150 mWatts of power and output audio at only 20 mWatts.
- 2.07" x 4.08" x .35"
- Flash memory
- Built-in flash accelerometer
- 720p HD video support & output
- Rumored to be available Sept. 5th
More at Wiki. My God, PLEASE take advantage of the Tegra processor, Microsoft! Oh, & Bluetooth. That'd basically make the Zune HD the best MP3 player ever.

Really something indeed........

Honestly, I prefer the Zune over the iPod. While the iPod is the superior technologically (as of now), iTunes is one of the most infuriating programs I have ever used.

Anyhow,
At the moment, it is MS that is the only that is capable of giving Apple a run for its money. In the past, it was Creative.........but right now, they appear to be having a hard time competing with Ipod so yeah, I guess it's up to MS to step-up to the plate (if you ask me).
Anyhow, I do hope that for the sake of competition, MS would deliver on this one (and from the looks of it, it might just do so)

Marketplace Rating: 0 | 2 new rumors:
- It'll be out Sept. 8th (instead of the previously mentioned 5th)
- 16GB & 32GB sizes will be released.
I'll get myself a 32GB if it's true. Hopefully, the $200 & $300 prices will be true as well (or lower, which I doubt), considering it's going to have that brand new Tegra chip.

Marketplace Rating: 15 | This is good news. I still have the 1st gen Zune from it's launch date lol. Never had a need to buy a new one. Only thing wrong with it is the decaying battery life.
Definitely gonna pick this up, hopefully the price tag is in the $200-$300 range.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | More info possibly revealed
- Possible 64GB model coming later this year after 16GB/32GB models
- Zune 4.0 update on HD will have improved battery life, multi-touch and movies.
- 16GB will possibly be around $250-$280.
Hmmmm, if the 16GB is going to be around $250-$280, makes me wonder how much the 32GB will be. Considering the 120 GB is $250, I'm hoping it'll be a bit cheaper than that.
