I am sure you guys are all aware that EB/Gamestop (hello Eddie!) had their preorders this past Tuesday, with about 16 systems per store, so they sold out pretty quick at the $100 preorder price. (I think it's $100)
Here's the scoop. I am getting a 2nd job at a brand new unopened Gamestop, that opens next Wednesday in a brand new shopping center, and they have all 16 preorders still avaliable.
I'm asking for $100 profit in this, excluding shipping.
In a nutshell, to put down the $100 preorder, you send me $150. The $50 is mine. I'll give you details Wednesday about the preorder.
When the system comes out, you send me $573 (or $473, if you want the 20GB version), which again, $50 is mine, and $23 going to padded, insured for full value UPS Ground shipping (if you want Next Day Air, please inquire next month when the time gets closer and I'll give you an estimate). | You know as an employee for GameStop, it is completely against company policy for you to do this, right? You will get terminated for it.
Also, GameStop does limited Employee Preorders and its done via chain of command. You can't preorder a system for yourself or for someone that hasn't actually PHYSICALLY set foot inside the store.

I don't see how it's against "company policy" to wait in line, just like everyone else and pay full price, just like everyone else, but end up selling it to someone personally. (Unlike posting it on eBay)
There is no rule stating that an employee can not wait for a system just like anyone else and pay the same exact price just like anyone else.
Besides, I'm selling it to a friend here locally so whatever.

Besides, I'm selling it to a friend here locally so whatever. | Because you're essentially using your employment status at GameStop to get yourself a preorder spot and then selling it for profit. At least, that's how it'd look to most people anyways, whether or not you have different intentions.
As for the employee rule, there actually is a company wide rule that there are a limited number of employee preorders allowed to be made per store for a new system. The reason is there specificially so that the employees don't snatch up all the systems (or most of them) when there are going to be extremely limited quantities, as it's not fair to the other customers who might purchase them. And from what I remember last year with the 360 launch, the whole system is done through the chain of command. Meaning that the store manager gets first dibs, and then it goes down the line from there (Asst. Manager, Manager-In-Training, Senior Game Advisors and then Game Advisors).
So most likely, if you're being hired on as a Game Advisor, you'll have at least 3 or 4 people ahead of you that might want the system and then, if it comes down to the Game Advisors, if more than one is interested, they have to draw a name (or names) out of a hat.
Now, if you're one of those people that got the go ahead to preorder a system, great. But you're only allowed one preorder anyways. And that goes for anyone preordering a system.

I said I'm applying, and I have my interview today, for a new store.
So I was curious to find out that there's still all 16 preorders for that store, seeing how it's not open yet -- and most people here won't know about it, allowing me to easily wait in said line and obtain ONE preorder.
I wouldn't preorder this godawful system otherwise, so multiple systems were never in question to me.
And there's no manager-in-training, unless you're thinking 3rd key.
Whatever tho, it seems to make you happy if I just have my friend do it himself then.

I laugh because its true. How uesless is PS3 now, or am I the only one that feels that way? I'm sure it might be a good console to own someday but now?...
