To answer both your questions, I have NO idea.

never played the original international edition, and i THINK it's some interactive guide...i truly don't know...sorry.

Someone has obvisouly been to Japan. :P

The game is the International version, meaning it contains the super/ultimate bosses, which weren't originally in the first Japanese version.

The 4th disc is like a bonus disc (but you can only play it on your PSX), with some nice stuff like very early alpha videos and a bunch of info.
