Exclamation Trading & Marketplace RULES

Buying and selling things over the internet on an unregulated site can be a big issue. I know this myself because as a seller, I'm not very good with getting things out to people as soon as they purchase them, and I feel that due to events on 6.0's marketplace coupled with my experience as a less than reliable seller as of late, some finite rules are required for this section to keep arguements down, reliablilty of sellers well documented and regulations for how threads should be handled known.

[SELLERS]

First of all, as a seller there should be a level of conduct you should adhere to. A level of expectations for your thread to keep confusion at a minimum, and communication as clear as possible. That being said, I'd expect all sellers to follow these guidelines in order to have a successful thread/transaction through these forums.

1. When you start a thread make sure you state that you're selling and item, and be as clear about what the product is in the title as possible. This way people won't pass your item over immediately, and there's less wonder as to what your item pertains.

example:

[SELLING] beatmaniaIIDX 3rd Style CS [PS2]

A title like this clearly states that the item is for sale and what the item is. If you were to just state:

[SELLING] beatmaniaIIDX 3rd Style

or

beatmaniaIIDX 3rd Style

Your thread might be passed over due to lack of detail, or lack on interest based on the effort someone might have to put into finding out details on the product.

2. In your first post on the thread be as descriptive as possible and post images of your product if possible. Be sure to state your price, the condition of the item, point out any individual flaws the product might have, any problems you may have had with the item. The more descriptive you are, the less questions need to be asked and the faster your item gets sold. If you're offering your item up as an auction type sale, make sure you state how many days the item will be up for bidding, and keep your main post updated with the highest bidder and thier amount.

3. Be clear on how you want to handle shipping. Give a price right off of the bat if possible, or make sure there is some kind of option for people to see how much it's going to cost to have the item shipped. USPS and UPS both offer services to check how much shipping would be from one place to another, so if you choose to allow people to just check on thier own, make sure you post an aproximate wieght, packaging dimensions and your location (including zip code) so that a price can be figured out with little effort.

4. Be as specific as possible as to what forms of payment you accept from people. Paypal is the payment type of choice, but if you are willing to accept cash, bank transfer, money orders or checks, you need to make sure that you post that.

5. Finally, when your transaction is finalized make sure to lock your thread, or request a lock from a moderator. And follow up all transactions in the buyer/seller feedback forum.

[BUYERS & OTHER POSTERS]

There really shouldn't need to be any rules to manage your conduct in this forum, but threadcrapping has become an issue on 6.0 and it needs to be addressed. So bottom line:

If you have nothing positive to say, don't say anything.

If you're not inquiring about the product as someone interested in purchasing it, your input isn't needed. We've had too many issues lately where someone is selling a hard to find item here and someone feels the need to come in the thread and start calling the seller a ripoff. Now it's perfectly acceptable to enter a thread anf try to negotiate the price with a seller (if they're willing to) but make sure it's perfectly clear that you're haggling a price and not stating that they're charging way too much for it.

Any act of threadcrapping will be threated as trolling, and after 3 offenses you will be banned from the marketplace forum altogether.

[WANT TO BUY]

Out of all 3 user types for this forum, this is the easiest and most lenient one to handle. Just make sure you follow the same basic guidelines that the sellers have to follow:

1. Point out that you're looking for said item, and be descriptive about what the item is in the title

I.E.

[WTB] beatmaniaIIDX 11 IIDX RED AC Poster

2. In your topic make sure to point out any requirements for the item. Your prefered condition, what it should include, how much you want to pay, etc.

3. Make sure you make it clear as to how you are willing to pay (paypal, etc.)

4. After a transaction is finished, make sure to lock your thread or request a lock, and follow it up in the feedback forum.

If everyone follows these guidelines things will run much more smoothly and we won't have any issues.
