Wanted: PayPal go-between

OK, for those of you not aware, Solefald volunteered to pick up some stuff in Japan for various BMS users because he is an awesome guy.

People are paying for this stuff via PayPal. I've been trying to get a PayPal account set up and working for about two weeks now. Despite the cooperation of the wonderful people at my bank, PayPal has been too utterly inept to get their minds around this. Not to mention that their Customer Service dept. has not returned my e-mails or been reachable by phone.

So I'm beseeching those of you with PayPal accounts and sterling BMS reputations: anyone willing to accept a USPSMO for around $200 from me and pay the money to Solefald via PayPal? If you are, leave a reply here indicating your availability and how much, if any, commission you require for the deed.

If you feel like vouching for (or against!) one of the people who has already volunteered, please feel free to do that as well, if you haven't already done it in the feedback forum (which I will be going over with a fine-toothed comb).

I'd be happy to help out. I've been a Verified and Confirmed member on Paypal for a while, and used my father's account for 2 years before I got my own. eBay rep in the hundreds to boot (account- ajaxfan1). I can easily do postal money orders since our campus post office takes them and it's a 1 minute walk away. Honestly, I'd do it for free but if you guys wanna toss in a nifty keychain or bag of Japanese candy or something silly like that I'd appreciate it. If you need more feedback, well, I've done at least 15 transactions through these forums so I'm sure somebody can vouch for me. Bought a IIDX KASC (so I've done big-money transactions, haha), sold a bunch of games, bought some posters, stuff like that.

I can't guarantee how fast it would go. Usually bank to Paypal transfer takes a few days (2-3) and my campus sorting office is famous for delaying mail by an unnecessary day, so just be warned. I'd be happy to help you out if you're not on a super time crunch. I'll be at home from the 20th to the 25th though (you would have trouble getting a physical MO to me that quickly over the holiday week).

Why don't you just open a new account with a better bank, just for paypal? Many have completely free checking? I'm not saying Nomi isn't trustworthy, but you don't have to take any risk and isn't it easier to just do it yourself?

The problem is, it's not the bank - I opened an account with a great bank which I've used for other things as well, and yes, it does have completely free checking, and yes, I've been in touch with them trying to figure out what's wrong.

PayPal customer service, on the other hand... well, let's just say that after sending them an e-mail using their stupid form and getting back a "We might have just ignored your e-mail - why not call us?" message, not to mention calling them and waiting on the customer service line for 90 minutes before I had to go get on with my life... yeah, they're not going to come through for me anytime soon.

Nomi: thanks for the offer! Um, I don't know whether I have any nice Japanese candy sitting around here, but I'll hit up the Asian market tomorrow... send me a PM, or I'll send you one; I'll get my act together in the next 24 hours or so.

Solefald: thanks for not loathing me (which you've probably earned the right to do at this point)... it shouldn't take much longer now. (I pray.)

Seriously, am I like the only one hundreds of miles from a place that sells Japanese candy/snax?

I would have my Paypal account available to send money, but after what I've heard about paypal accounts being hacked, I'm somewhat wary of wanting to link either my CC or my routing number for my checking account to them... I'm thinking that HioMrSan's idea should work-- open up a different checking account at a different bank offering free checking...

Anyway, sorry to derail this thread...

Well, you're presumably in Nomi's company...

It's really a fluke that we have an Asian market here at all. This is NOT a large city, nor is it an ethnically diverse one. But yet we have probably the best Asian market this side of Chicago.

Edit: actually, my friend informs me it's better than the ones he frequents in Chicago. But not by huge leaps and bounds, if that's any consolation.

Look, if anyone has Arkaaito or Solefald's e-mail or AIM, will somebody let me know? I have $200 of his and neither side has contacted me in well over a week, I feel like I'm scamming somebody. I just need damn confirmation on where to send the money and both parties have gone missing.
