I know how you feel. I am in the process of selling my swap magic and using that money to buy a modchip.
If you are willing to let someone else install a chip, i have a friend that builds things on custom PCB's for a career. And from seeing what he has done, (as in building a mini computer with things like those tiny resistors that you see in computers. So soldering those wires should be nothing with the tools in the lab at the university.
But he is on his last semester to receiving his masters in microprocessor design and engineering, so theres no worry with that.
I am saying this because if your willing to have someone install it, I can arrange that. And you can sell the swap magic (and the fliptop for a few more bucks) for part of the chip.
