GONE!
Are you looking to get into arcade gaming, or want to take your arcade cabinet's games on the go? Look no further! I am looking to trade my SuperGun, with SVC Chaos motherboard, for a Pop'n Music Arcade Style Controller, preferably a DJ Dao ASC. I will also consider selling it (see below), however, my first choice among my offers will most likely be a Pop'n Music controller. Please see below for how I am handling offers.
Continental US residents only.
What's included?
- Main SuperGun unit
- SVC Chaos motherboard (not pictured)
- RGB to NTSC converter
- Short AV cables
- 12' Premium Audio Cable (new, from Monoprice)
- Mono splitter cable
- S-Video Extension Cable (not pictured)
- NeoGeo CD Joypad controller
- PC power cable (not pictured)
What is a SuperGun? Basically it's a device that lets you use arcade motherboards (PCBs) on your TV, like a console. Essentially, it is a portable arcade machine, as it takes in the signals that arcade machines normally use for video, audio, controllers, and power, and present them in a user-friendly, arcade-compatible box. It's perfect for those wanting the arcade experience at home without needing a huge arcade machine. If this sounds complicated, see below for a YouTube video I made that explains how to use it. It's not hard, I promise

.
I should add, for NeoGeo fans that want a cheap NeoGeo at home, this supergun paired with a MVS motherboard will allow you to enjoy NeoGeo games at home without spending big bucks on AES cartridges.
So, about my supergun. This was contsructed in 2004 by me, and the only reason I am getting rid of it is that I have another, and don't need two. I didn't have a Dremel back then, so all cuts were made with a drill, Stanley knife, and a hacksaw. There are some rough cuts, however most of the rough cuts are in the back (which no one will normally see), and the cuts made on the front are very accurate for the most part, and what rough cuts are on the front, are barely noticeable. I should also add that the structural integrity of the SuperGun is completely sound. In case you're wondering, the SNK sticker isn't covering anything up, it's just there for bling

.
It uses a hacked PS2 DVD cable for video, which converts the motherboard's RGB video signal to NTSC. It outputs S-Video and Composite. The S-Video signal is very pure looking; it's sharp, vivid, and overall clean. The Composite signal is a lot less sharp, and less vivid, so I don't recommend using it to connect the SuperGun to your TV. However, if you have no other choice, it's better than nothing.
For audio, it is wired for the NeoGeo's stereo signals. For other PCBs, you obtain dual Mono output by plugging the included mono splitter into the right RCA audio jack, and plugging your stereo audio cable into the splitter. Most JAMMA games use Mono sound, so you'll have the convenience of using whatever your game supports, instead of being stuck with only mono or stereo. I should add, I used dual attenuation circuits to convert the audio signal from speaker level to line level. This protects your TV from having its speakers blown by an overly loud audio signal.
The controller ports on it are wired to accept official NeoGeo controllers. It will also accept custom controllers, as long as they follow the NeoGeo pinout to include all redundant connections; the ports on the SuperGun do not have all redundant connectors wired up, but this does not affect the usability of official NeoGeo controllers. I personally recommend the "Old Style" NeoGeo joysticks.
I'll mention that this is not wired for 6-button controllers for games such as Street Fighter. Such games use an auxiliary harness which is not officially supported by the JAMMA standard. Since I never played many 6 button games, I didn't add on an auxiliary harness, however if you wish to do so, it's not very hard.
I am including a NeoGeo CD Joypad controller, which I bought secondhand. Honestly, I don't like it, since the miniature directional joystick on it sucks for fighting games, and is overall somewhat imprecise. Most people who have used the controller tend to agree. I recommend you get joystick controllers for the full arcade experience, but this joystick will at least get you started. This controller is technically a bit damaged, in that one of the microswitches doesn't produce a click when pressed. This is mostly aesthetic, since it activates just fine, it just feels different. This damage is due to the plastic actuators inside the joypad wearing off and producing plastic dust, which clogs the microswitches. This is a common defect; some have fixed it, but it's somewhat risky, so I left it alone.
The power supply is a PC AT power supply. It outputs 8 Amps on +5V and .5 Amps on +12V, so it should power most JAMMA games just fine.
I should mention, there are two buttons on the front of the supergun, and both are specific to NeoGeo. The black button beneath the power switch is the NeoGeo's Test button, and the red button between the controller ports is the NeoGeo's Select button. If you wish to access test mode in other JAMMA games, you can either rewire the Test button to the pin that corresponds with the generic JAMMA Test input, or use the appropriate dipswitches on most JAMMA motherboards to enable Test mode.
I am including a SVC Chaos: SNK vs Capcom motherboard. This is a legitimate and original PCB, and not a bootleg. It's just the motherboard, but no artwork or instructions; I bought it that way a while ago from the owner of Houston's Stargate Arcade. If you're unfamiliar with SVC, it's a fighting game, battling SNK's characters against Capcom's, with some cool cutscenes before each match. With this motherboard and the NeoGeo CD joypad, you'll be ready to play as soon as everything's arrived at your house

.
One note about SVC, it is currently located with my family in Houston. It should be in my personal possession in about one or two weeks.

Also, here's a YouTube video I made that explains how it works and how to set it up:
Arcade Supergun Bundle For Sale/Trade
Now for the fun part: what I'd like, and how I'm handling offers.
The thing I would like the most for this bundle is a DJ Dao Pop'n Music Arcade Style Controller. I'll ship the bundle to you, you'll ship the ASC to me, and we each pay for our own shipping. If you have a Dao, and nothing's wrong with it, I will probably accept your offer immediately. However, I will consider all Pop'n ASC offers.
If you are offering me a Pop'n Controller for trade, please provide as much of the following as possible about it:
- Its brand and model
- How long you've owned it for
- If it had any previous owners, and if so, how long they owned it for
- Its design
- If you've ever had problems with it
- Pictures and/or a Tatsujin, if possible
- Anything else I should know
I am also entertaining cash offers. I will say, no offers lower than $245 shipped. It's going to be a bit expensive for me to ship, I'd put the base price at $200, but I insist on shipping it via USPS, Pirority, Insured, with DC. Feel free to make an offer of the $245 price, or if you want, offer more to outbid people, and therefore have me consider your offer more strongly. For payment, I will accept PayPal, cashier's check/money order, or personal check. For PayPal, please add 4%. For the other methods, I will wait for the check to clear before I ship my bundle.
I will entertain many offers before I decide on which, if any, to accept. The length of time for entertaining offers will probably last one to two months, however this is just an estimate.
I should add, if you are in the Dallas area, you are welcome to stop by and try the SuperGun out. If you have a Pop'n ASC for trade, I'd like to try it out.
I'll take this time to mention again that I want my offers to be located within the
Continental US only.
