It's the core background track that seems to slow down slightly, (the pauses are inaudible, but by about half way through the song, the mis-sync is really noticeable,) but, say I play a song on light mode, and the [a] chart has a hi-hat pattern somewhere, this hi-hat sound will also remain in sync with the keysounds. Kind of like an invisable autoplay layer, so the disks don't have to have three seperate BGMs (one for each difficulty.)
I also noticed the HDD activity light blinks briefly about every second during the song, where the laser would usually be reading the BGM, it just seems like it's not reading each section fast enough.

The only time I've encountered a console crash is when I tried to backup IIDX gold.

Anyone who's getting the song not loading and just displaying the track name needs to stop being such a cheap bastard and pay for some legit copies. That or get a better mastering device.

I've seen legits hang on song names, I've seen backups play flawlessly for a long time.
Also what makes you so sure that if a person has a backup, they don't also have a legit copy? I dunno about you but I'd rather have an ability to play a backup of a game I own and demolish that, than demolish a 60 dollar investment.
Not all backup shit deals with piracy.

Not all backup shit deals with piracy. | True enough, I'm only going from my own experience. I've got legit copies and, ahem, 'backups' (we're fooling no one people). My legits all work wonders, whilst my, ahem, 'backups' are a mixed bunch. Half were, ahem, 'backed-up' by a friend, the other half by my missus. Those done by my friend, who's very clued up on, ahem, 'backing-things-up', never fail. Those done by my missus are inclined to freeze.
Also, on a side note, I swear there's audio quality differences between legit copies and, ahem, 'backups'; I swear my Tenff Style sounds, well, just better on a legit copy than when I had it, ahem, 'backed-up'. Someone who's more knowledgable on the subject could possible confirm with trufax science?...

That's just my experience though; I've probably watched like 30 videos on Sony DVDs and they were all fine in addition to my PS2 backups, so uh
