All 120hz means is that the refresh rate is higher.
So to compensate for lack of frames, automotion plus adds them.

This is where he is getting some of the lag.

The rest of the lag is from the interlaced signal.

You have to use game mode on HDTVs or else the lag will kill you.

But I don't understand why konami just doesn't put their games in progressive scan, there would be no lag and it is really not that hard to do it, and ps2 fully supports it.

There would still be some lag, even with game mode on, due to the TV having to scale 640x480 to 1366x768 or 1920x1080 or some other resolution.

The best thing to play IIDX on would probably be a CRT TV (HD or not) that supports 16:9

Doesn't IIDX require 60hz? I force ran it in 50hz once and it unsync'd.

As far as I know

BM IIDX games for PS2 is NTSC so it won't output using 25/50hz.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I did it was swap magic, the game ran fine but the notes and the music were out of sync.

It was pretty funny.

naw the lag is coming from the video processing. Game-mode sucks balls since nothing is adjustable and it looks like ass. What a shame.

IIDX worked just fine on my old westy 1080p TV though

That's probably the downside of Samsung HDTVs (all of their settings are locked in game mode including DNIE off function).

That sucks.

I guess it's only the Sony BRAVIA sets that do not have this lockdown crap on their game mode feature.
