Default AAAs

I've been playing for almost two years now; I can play a few 10s, most of the 9s, and pretty much every 8. I play one-handed, and I've gotten a crapload of AAs, and a ton of As.

But I've only made around 6 AAAs total.

Is there any kind of tips for making AAAs? Timing is a gigantic part of grades, and I always get a few points off from an AAA Is there any advice, or practices that can improve getting AAAs or increasing my timing?

you just have to have really good timing. I know how you feel too, I am getting timing dont very good now, so its not unusual to AAA a song anymore.

It may also help if you dont one handed, that sound very hard to get timing down for each note with only one hand.

To me using one hand is very hard to get good grades, thus my DP score sucks. In SP I need to try to hit every note with the index, middle or ring fingers, i.e. my most flexible fingers, in order to get a good score.

About 1 year ago, my grade in most lv10 songs were about to reach AA. Some times its quite annoying that it's just a few points away. And now they're settled and I started to worry about lv11s. So I think what you need is just time.

You can improve at anything with practice, but I believe good timing is a particularly innate trait. It might be that you just don't have it.

I know I don't really. I've been playing for a couple years, and can only AAA the easiest of songs. I've just started playing 1-handed, and already got a few new AAAs, so I'm not sure I'd say that necessarily makes your timing worse. But, like everything, it's different for everyone.

Hi man, I was in a similar position a week or two ago. I can pass about half of the level 9 songs and most 8's, but the only AAA I had was on 511 (Hyper I think). I was getting bored of trying to pass any harder songs so tried going for some AAA's on the easy songs on Distorted.
I tried really hard to get a feel for the songs as my timing had always been a bit dubious in the past and managed to clock up about 10 AAA's in one session. The next day I got a whole load more and almost instantly I have started getting better grades on loads of songs and even passed a few I couldn't before.

I think that if you play the low level songs a few times each and get into the beat, it starts getting much easier to get higher grades. I think it helps to play all on one style to get used to the timing as when I went back to playing 10th it was much harder as I had gotten used to the timing on Distorted.

Hmm, I guess that isn't really much advice, but I feel your pain. It just needs more practice on the really basic tunes and then you start paying more attention to timing rather than just clearing the song.

i used to be in the same position as you. i've been playing for about 2 years and only now i'm starting to AAA some songs. granted they may not be like level 11 another's but for me anyway, a AAA is a AAA regardless of the song difficulty

sometimes for me, if i don't even think about the grades and just play the song i do a whole lot better. i'd even turn off the score data too sometimes if it helps

I can pass 11s regularly now, and I haven't got a single AAA. So you're doing a LOT better than me in that aspect.
So all I can suggest is concentrate hard and the faster the notes go, the less time you have to react, thus hopefully giving you more Just Greats.

Also obviously if you know/like a song more, you'll be more likely to AAA it.

I find that if I listen to a song on the OST as background music [ie; while im doing something] a few times I have drastically improved timing on the song, literally from a low B to a high AA.

This, and know the instrumentation so that you can think about it when you see a whole mess of notes. This will help make sense of most 10-12s.

Not necessarily so. I felt that way exactly for yeaaaaars and had just decided that I would never be able to AAA stuff like other people. In the weeks before Gold I sat down and just started pounding through all the hypers in Happy Sky, focusing on timing as much as I could, and it just sort of started happening.

I dunno, I think it just clicks eventually if you want it enough. At first you have to really really focus on it and drill stuff but it gradually becomes more natural.

for me AAA's came with time. i didnt start getting really good timing down till around 10s. for me the song has to be really on beat and around 150 to 180 helps. but once you notice your timing skills getting better like getting AAs on songs with out trying actually try to get as close as you can to get a AAA.

i would suggest honey punch from gold. pretty much anything terra i can get a high AA or at least a AAA.

I've been playing for at least 3 years... I still only have 2 AAA.
To be fair, my focus is on increasing difficulty capabilities and playing doubles.

This is not true. You can get timing easily, but I suggest first passing a 12* song or two. As you start passing more and more songs, you learn to hit more and more notes with better accuracy to keep your bar up. Once you've gotten to that level, go back and play 3s-7s or whatever feels comfortable to AAA, and don't give up after playing the song only once. Play it 7 or 8 times and work for it. Use random, so you get a different pattern every time and you can be more consistent at it.

I was terrible at timing until I had passed a few 12s myself, then I went back and worked on my timing again. Now I have over 1700 Singles AAAs and counting, so it's possible to just "get" timing. A lot of players don't have good timing skills before they start playing, because they've never played a musical instrument or sang or played another music game. Still, you see players rise to the challenge and move to the top of the ranks regardless of their musical background.
