am i starting bad habits

im getting beatmania us in 2 days for the game and controlleR(FOR BE-PACI) first will the controller work for be-pachi(i have a ps2/pc cable thing), and i starting playing pachi with a keyboard and...i play with my ring middle for the first on bottom, middle finger for first on the top, pointer for second on bottom and also pointer for second on top, then the next hand i use pointer for third on the bottom, middle for 3rd on top, and lastly ring finger for 4th on bottom. do some people get really good like that, or should i be moving my fingers along the bottons more?

Your first priority is to never again make threads about stuff you haven't even used.

The next is to never make threads about unrelated subject material. I don't know what the hell BE-PACI is, and I don't care, but most importantly - BE-PACI isn't Beatmania, or Beatmania IIDX, or Beatmania III. So there's no need to talk about it here.

I don't know what BE-Paci is, but imma have to say that that finger placement does indeed suck.

On topic of finger placements, I would recommend the following:

TT, 1, and 2 on the left hand, and 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 on the right hand.
(This is a Left Side setup, switch left and right if you are a Right Side player).

For TT, 1 and 2, use Pinky, Thumb, and Index in that order for those keys.

... Instead of telling him his setup is stupid, why don't you tell him how he can improve it, like the previous poster.

As for his TT/1/2 for left hand, 3-7 for right hand... That's what my roomie uses. He's pretty good at the game too. Me, however.. My key setup is a bit different.

I use left hand for TT/1/2/3, and my right hand takes 4-7. I like to use my right thumb for the 5-key, too. Thumbs are your friends, use them more and you will get better. That is a promise.
