Default American BMUS controller vs. japanese KOC

Hi. I'm sorry, but your search engine isn't the greatest thing I've encountered, so this is probably been mentioned before.

I'd like to know the difference between the US beatmania controller and the japanese one. PA have a special on the japanese version, and there's another place with free shipping for the american controller (I'm not american, mind you) which is a grand total of $5 cheaper than the japanese one.

Bearing this in mind, I'd be willing to pay the $5 difference for the controller depending on whether or not the japanese one is actually worth it. I don't know anything about the US version, or the mods, aside from "turntable mod" and that's it. I'd like to know what the different mods for each versions are and which are more flexible.

I originally intended on buying a DASC Pop'n controller, but I thought I should give IIDX a try since I already have experience with Pop'n. It's either this or a DASC honestly.

Personally, I like the American controller more. I'm not sure if it's affected my GA, but I've noticed that it is nearly impossible for the American keys to get jammed. I've had my American controller since the release of Beatmania US and I'm yet to get a key stuck.

The US controller is the better one out of the two.

The keys are more rounded to give it a more accurate arcade style feel and they're much more springy (they don't stick as easily as the Japanese keys do).

The only problem I've had with the US controller is that the turntable was really really stiff when I got it, so I had to loosen it up. And it's gotten kinda sticky lately, because I haven't been playing too much IIDX.

But yeah, stick with the US controller - it's a better buy out of the two.

i've never tried the japanese one but from what i've heard, the us controller is superior. Just don't forget to do the wax paper/plastic bag mod to fix the stiffness of the turntable.

The US controller is more or less unanimously considered the better choice, except by Japanolitists who think that anything that comes out of the US is automatically inferior.

Just mod the turntable (search for 'slipmat mod' or there's a Controller Mod sticky thread) and you should be good to go.
