If I recall correctly, double tapping select should make them transparent.

How do you default it to have the video in the background with the graph, instead of having the stale image with the graph?

I think that the first time that you play in a session, it'll default to having the solid background behind the graph, but once you change it, it'll remember your preference until you turn the game off.

Move the turntable to select the graph mode when you have the options menu up.

and if you cant read Japanese its ok, just do it by trail and error. If you HAVE rival data then pick that persons name.
