Default Any one who can help me...

I need some help I play left side turntable two handed style...
I sometimes feel that I could do much more by changing my style because some songs require a...uh...unique style of play. for example wonder bullfighter[a].
Not that I am that good anyway...I am a 5th Dan in my style...here's my question...Is it too late to switch my style...or...should I just keep truckin'?

The best style is "flexible". Get used to moving your hands where they need to be for a whole song or just a measure or two. And yeah, it doesn't hurt being able to do a lot with just one hand on the keys so you can scratchscratchscratchscratchscratchscratchscratchs cratchscratchscratch chord.

Hmmm...so rather than have a defined style. I should have a sort of "all style"
is that what you are saying?

The more flexible you are, the farther you'll go. Sticking to one strict "style" is just going to hamper you on some songs. That said, it's always helpful, especially if you ever plan to play doubles, to get used to one-handed play (so the other can scratch/get your drink/flip off Innocent Walls [a]/etc.)

Main style? There really isn't one for me, I play like a spaz. Best description I can give is that I always have the turntable to the left, pinky scratch as much as I can (although on lighter songs, I've been known to one-hand and keep the other on the turntable), and always have my right hand over the keys. ALWAYS. I also use any damn available finger to hit a key, which means something I poke with my middle finger early in the song may be replaced with a thumb later.

Ok basically the same as mine...although...I won't use my left thumb or right pinky...does that seem odd to you?

If it gets you better scores, who cares if it's odd or not.

You're doing fine. You'll change the way you approach songs with more practice.

Don't be afraid to use palm/arm/forehead to hit keys when your hands are busy.

Does 14 key help your style get flexible, I'm in tough debate on whether it will help me when I switch back to 7 key or not. I don't play alot of doubles but I can't tell if it helps me when i switch back or not.

My style is similar to both of yours, but I still have trouble scratching during songs because I keep scratching the same way. For example if I have to do Scratch+1+3, I always find the scratches not registering because I can only scratch one direction. Any tips for when I have to play notes while doing a scratch session? My right hand is pretty bad at having to handle stuff like 1+7, 2+6 and anything with 3 notes and was wondering if theres any songs to practice to get my other hand stronger.

Well, for one thing, 14-key is DEFINITELY going to make you improve one-handed play. Even a simple song like 5.1.1. is more vicious on L14, just because you have to manage double the keys with half the coverage. If you can clear something on L14, you can easily take it on L7 (and possibly 7-key, depending on song).

Scratching... I'll emphasize this now: pinky-scratching is THE way to improve that. Use the pinky on whatever hand is nearest the turntable, place it downwards onto the table, and just bend and unbend it. With a little practice, you can get other variations on this down depending on keypresses, for a faster response. (It will also help GREATLY if you mod your turntable, be it just by loosening the screw inside, or if you add wax paper as well. That's information for the Controller Mod topic, however.)

I don't know what styles you have, so suggesting songs is a little bit of a challenge, but I'm going to assume (and correct me if I'm wrong here) it's bmUS, or you at least have access to it, so try Spin the Disc (Beginner or L7), Hunting for You (5-key... only setting it's on, but it has a scratch pattern that'll force you to read them closely mid-song for practicing unpredictable patterns), and Battle Breaks (also 5-key, but it's scratch heavy, and if you like, you can practice one-handing a song to later use that skill for 14-key play.)

...and I just realized that I'm assuming you have bmUS and I used the old Japanese difficulty settings. To clarify, in case of confusion: Beginner = Beginner, L7 = Normal, 7-key = Hyper, and I didn't mention Another at all, although g.m.d. Another might help a little on scratching with its opening runs.

Sorry I should have specified, I have US, 10th, and 11th, and 9th is getting shipped. For the pinky scratching, when I have to do repetitive S+1+3's The first scratch (CC) is good, but sometimes going clockwise my pinky moves back in returning with the other three fingers. I just attempted ten times on the controller (5 one way and 5 the other) and I only scratched 4 times (not even sure if the syncing was right b/c I wasn't playing any songs but it's not that big of a deal since my problem is hitting the notes). I'm debating on whether to take this with 1H since most of times I need this is along with a stream on the other hand and use the 2nd hand for 3 with the stream or not. For V hyper mirror, I use one hand for this it works, but when I apply it to other songs it doesn't work so well (possibly a per song basis?).

Mostly the scratching errors I make on single play are when they are closer like in Spin The Disk, but the problem is more frequent when it's thrown in mid song (like Wonder Bullfighter [a] though I don't expect to pass it anytime soon just the only scratching example). When it's at the beginning I know to expect it and can do it pretty well, and most times the keys used come on the right side of the notechart so I don't need my left hand to do anything special. When I do Wonder Bullfighter (just scratching) my best ones are the scratch zones at the beginning and end, but the middle ones (all of them) are either too many scratches, too few scratches. Pinky Scratching some of those will probably just take time for my pinky to get the strength for the harder songs.

On 14k play, I'm only at L14 and having scratching problems but most times my right hand moves too far and tries to scratch the middle of the turntable where the label is. I was using it to try not to rely on two handing simpler note combinations (like going down all the white or all the black keys) which is quite difficult for me to 1-hand. I'm probably not spending enough quality time in doubles to get it down though.

In my expeireince with the "scratching problem" I would either learn the song very well (at least AA status) with auto scratch on, then I would simply take it of and relearn the song with scratches, you may not think it helps, but i've found that giving one a better sense of the notes really helps.

And I can't quite comprehend Hansrb's style...weird, oh and L14 will help, i'm terrible at it though...

I'll give that a shot, probably trying to comprehend too much information to play/learn at the same time until I become familiar with the keys.

My style is kind of weird and hard to explain because the finger that moves the most between keys is my right thumb in single key cirumstances (which can go between 3 and 5) ? My fingers are usually positioned...
1 = L middle (thumb when moved to another key)
2 = L middle (2nd key)
3 = L pointer
4 = R pointer
5 = R thumb
6 = R middle
7 = R ring

However, sometimes my left hand can move up which will slide everything up from 1+3 to 2+4 and my L thumb takes over 3 and my L ring will take one (hence making scratching impossible). Also my wrists tend to want to elevate off the playing surface up into the air by a couple inches.

oh!
I see.
maybe you could instead of using your middle finger for 1 you could try using the ring finger...
