Anyone else use the PS2 HDD for 5th Style?

I picked up a hard drive and broadband adaptor for my JPS2 today and the first thing I did when I got home was install GFdm 4/3 and IIDX 5th. Granted that I haven't actually played 5th Style in the longest time, it seemed a hell of alot faster after installing to the hard drive. Aside from that, are there any other benefits to using it? I read something on GameFAQs that said that it unlocks endless mode also, but I can't find it anywhere in the game. Anyone else have any experience with this?
