The place is really cramped. It has a ton of music game machines, driving games, and shooting games all in really tight quarters. The IIDX machine is in a little pocket, with a GF/DM machine to its immediate left, and a Pop'n 14 machine to its immediate right. A few steps back from it is the new Razing Storm game which happens to be loud as fuck.
With all of the noise in the place, it can sometimes be a little hard to hear the music, as well as I'd want to at least. So then it sometimes becomes time for EQ ONLY, giving the volume a considerable boost. EQ Only totally kicks ass, and I think "TWO can play at the loud-noises game!" Some songs are absolutely euphoric with EQ on (no effects, just full volume.) Karma, despite its simplicity, just sounds totally solid.
But then I get a little self-conscious. Is this really overpowering to the GF and Pop'n players right next to me? Am I suddenly the IIDX douche with the too-loud machine?
What has been your experience with the EQ ONLY effect?

So I'd say turn it down when it's not busy and there's one or two people playing around you. When it's busy, you have to do what you have to do, turn it up just so you can hear it.

From what I've heard, here in the Philippines, there's an arcade within a mall that has a IIDX Gold originally placed at the entrance but was later moved to the back because some shops nearby that arcade and also some mall-goers complained about the loud sounds coming from it.
Unless you want to break your eardrums, don't play Stoic with maxed out effectors and is set at Echo 5.

Anyways, in the place where I play, the BM IIDX GOLD machine is now placed beside the V4 machines. As of now though, the case is that people playing V4 do not care if BM IIDX machine makes any noise or whatever (most of the time, it's only set to attract mode as only less than ten people at max. would play it on a given day anyways).
Well, this stuff varies anyway between location.
P.S.
@to those living in Makati area (here in the Philippines)
I just bumped up the volume of the IIDX GOLD machine by just a bit (though apparently some mother and child as well as an elderly couple *humbly* requested to lessen the volume a bit). So yeah after the attendant increase volume knob, I just decided that while leaving EQ ONLY on, I just lessen/decrease the play volume and filter sliders just a bit............
So yeah, as much as my playing experience was slightly lessened at that time (which I didn't enjoy that much), it just meant that I didn't be an asshole by blasting their ear drums in close proximity.
Eventually though, when they left, then that's when I pushed the sliders all the way up on EQ ONLY. Max possible volume goodness haha (esp. with Z-I-V[a] on EQ ONLY = death to eardrums)
Hopefully, by this Saturday, I can request the attendant to increase the volume knob even further mwahahaha

Marketplace Rating: 13 | There was a constant battle at a mall here when there was a DDR Extreme next to an ITG2 Cab. The machines were literally inches from each other, and both of them were equally "make your ears retarded" loud.
The DDR players all wanted the ITG machine turned down, and vice versa. The situation resolved itself when the right speaker on the DDR machine blew out, and they decided that it'd be a good idea to turn them down a bit, and they moved the machines so that their backs were facing each other.

My friend turned the GF machine WAAAAAY the fuck up because he plays it more, even though the drummania machine is CONSTANTLY played, even if no actual, "players" are there, there's always some random asshole of drummania. It gets as much traffic as DDR for some reason but it's the quietest machine in the fucking place, I can here 2 DDR machines AND pop'n music which is no where near GFDM over drummania. When it's busy there, it's hell and you can't hear a fucking thing.
This simple bullshit really shouldn't be that hard.

I know IIDX machines can be pretty silent, or abnormally loud. Just dont over do it I guess or you will get the machine total volume lowered.
