Default Beatmania Double Play

I've been playing IIDX Double in Beatmania for quite a while but now I am playing on some of the older versions and I was wondering where is the best place to look on the screen while playing regular double mode? I have the most
trouble obviously when there are different patterns occuring on both sides.

I've heard you don't look at one place, you look at EVERYTHING.

So, sit further away? I always sit so close I can't see anything but the chart, and the video is in the corner of my eye. So obviously playing doubles I'd sit to wear I saw the whole chart and break down the mental barriers still making you think it's two charts.

It's one chart. Some cite that, because I'm no doubles expert. AT ALL.

You practice and memorize repetitive parts of the songs. If they repeat the same pattern, you can concentrate at the more erratic and varied side. For instance, if there is a bass beat going on with nothing else on the left side, you can concentrate more on the right side since you know the left is only or mostly going to have you hitting the bass beat.

Also, once again, practice helps a lot.

this is beatmania yes? not iidx?

personally ive found it A LOT easier to read anything when i turn sudden on. also using hispeed 2 for songs below 150 bpm, hispeed 1 for anything higher than that. (this is on a BM the Final machine, so the high speeds may vary if you are playing older BM games.)

this way u dont need to look at the whole screen, and u can simply concentrate on the bottom half. give it a try. it should help improve your scores double and single.

EDIT; oh. i just realised you meant regular double, as in theres a video inbetween the left and right sides. sudden will probably just make it harder LOL! i guess you would just have to stand as far from the screen as possible and try to get the whole screen in sight.

Thanks for the input. So far, I have been staring into the very middle of the screen and reading the notes in the corner of my eyes so I've been training my eyes not to deviate. If anyone has a better method than this, please tell me.

Varying distance is not really feasible for me in the arcade because I know it is possible to do without having to memorise songs and so on, and I am not Dhalsim or anything.

I've been doing this and I am glad I am doing something correct. I can only clear up to 3 star songs using OG double (I'm playing Club Mix and Best Hits) but in IIDX Double in the arcade I could clear 6s or 7s last time I played.
