Default Beatmania Effector Usage Help.

Hi can someone tell me what's the effector use for...

I need to know what's the difference between:

Echo 1
Echo 2
Echo 3
Surround 1
Surround 2
Surround 3

Every time I play on my CS versions, I never actually know what's the difference between these items. Can someone tell me, thanks!

I suck, I can only play 6-7 Stars on Normal, but with the addition of GOLD, I can beat some 8's!

I don't play MapleStory anymore, gave my roots26 account away...

I have all 6 Roots26 Shirts.

Echo 1-3 gives the sound and echo sound to it, 1 being the least and 3 being the most echo sounding.
Surround is a little complicated to explain, so someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Surround is an effector that gives the music a feeling of having surround sound. Is that right???
Once again 1 being the least effective, and 3 as the greatest. I also noticed that Surround with lower the bass, for me at least.

Surround +1 ~ +3 just makes the game sound a little more clear I think. In the arcade when you put the effector up more, the game also became increasing louder as well.

I think its just that. for surround sound systems. I have a 5.1 surround system and when ever the effector is off I only hear from the center speaker or tv speaker, but with the surround 3 I hear it from all 5 speakers. check out my videos to see what Im talking about.

Same happens for me when I use my 5.1 surround system + Surround 3. But I almost always use headphones, so I have it on Echo 1 all the time.

LOL, I'm an experienced effector user for the home setup. I have a surround sound speaker system and music plays through all speakers regardless of whether the effector's on or off.

beatmania I/III
-Effector: ON or OFF
*Effect = Sound quality increases with Super Surround Effect
NOTE: I use this effector from time to time.

beatmaniaIIDX ~ beatmaniaIIDX 5th style
-Effector: Echo
*Effect = Sound quality is enhanced with full echo effect
-Effector: Delay 1
*Effect = Sound quality slightly increases with echo-like delay effect
-Effector: Delay 2
*Effect = Sound quality slighty increases more than Delay 1 with echo-like effect
-Effector: Delay 3
*Effect = Sound quality increases a bit more than slightly than Delay 2 with most echo-like effect...sometimes making the last sounds of the song still play while the result screen is loading.

beatmaniaIIDX 6th style and up
-Effector: Echo 1
*Effect = Sound quality is enhanced with full echo effect
-Effector: Echo 2
*Effect = Sound quality is enhanced with higher echo effect
-Effector: Echo 3
*Effect = Sound quality is further enhanced with highest volume echo effect
-Effector: Surround 1
*Effect = Sound quality becomes slightly enhanced (not as strong as Echo 1)
-Effector: Surround 2
*Effect = Sound quality enhanced substantially more than Echo 1 and Echo 2
-Effector: Surround 3
*Effect = Sound quality and volume at its highest; volume is higher than Echo 3, but resonance is not as high as Echo 3's

I ALWAYS use Delay 1 or Delay 2 for VIRTUAL MIND...makes me feel more like I'm in front of a DanceManiaX 2ndMIX machine.

I ALWAYS use Echo3 with Xepher, otherwise, it won't sound as powerful; Surround 3 wouldn't produce enough resonance to truly bring out the song's power.

I ALWAYS use Surround 3 on 100% minimoo-g because Echo 3 wouldn't allow me to hear the strong 'impacts' that happen in this kind of song.

When DistorteD CS was released, I noticed that Surround 2 became very essential to nearly all songs on the game, so I just keep it on Surround 2 for DistorteD CS...except for bluemoon, which I used Echo 3 for. =P

So basically, if you wanna hear the song in a more "windy~magical" way, go for Echo3....Delay3 works nearly the same, only less effective (older game sound quality). If you wanna hear some serious end-of-tunnel sound power, you'd go for Surround3.

It all comes down to preference though....but honestly, if you're gonna play Xepher, at least use the effector. =/

I generally don't like using effectors on CS, because I think of it as "altering" the way songs sound, and it sort of distracts/screws me up on how I time on some songs.

AC, though, is a different story. GRAVITY WITH REVERB 3

Well i's all a feel of ambiance. They're reverb effects put on the songs... it's kind of like how Winamp and Windows Media Player have that DFX thing and how the creative Media Player has the EAX thing on it. It's for different ambiant effects. I don't like the delay ones because it makes all the songs sound like they're in a box... at least to me it does. I like the surround/echo effects though because it makes it sound like I'm in a big room or something. Well on small speakers it really isn't that useful but yeah.

Hey I have a question for those of you with a surround sound system. How do you send the PS2's audio to the surround sound reciever? Do you use a digital optical cable or the RCA cables?

From what I know, I think either the sound would come from all speakers or the surround sound stereo system will emulate 5.1 and push all the quieter sounds to the back. (This includes parts of the surround effect on the game so that it'll sound like it's really surround soun when actually it's not. emulated surround is different from real surround sound but IIDX doesn't output surround anyway so yeah.

I use the rca cables for the surround sound. If I use the optical cables, the music dosent come in till 1 second after the song starts, Nemesis is a good example of this. I think other people experience the same problem. thanks trip thats a good break down for the effectors

Actually, Beatmania III has quite a bit more than a simple effector. It has more effectors than any other bemani game, with more adjustments available on them and the ability to use two different ones at the same time.

The AC version definitely had its place in powering up those Bose speakers so you could hear the song, although with quite a disturbing echo at times.

for the CS versions with headphones, I usually have some type of Effector running, if not in IIDX than a DSP-type effect on my receiver. Otherwise, the older songs would sound dead.

It can be used for personal preference with different songs, or with a general goal in mind - emphasizing different parts of songs or reducing the bass through the main speakers, for example.

Hmm... I never knew you could run 2 at a time on BM3 but I never played or seen it although I do have the theme song from it. lol

I send the optical through my soundcard and there's no lag at all... but that's REALLY hard to set up so I got an optical to coaxial converter... dont' know how well that'll actually work out though. I guess I'll find out though. I hope it's not too bad.
